Default 2007/2008 STI = Same R180 ? experts please!

Just wondering if anyone can confirm or deny that the R180 is the same between 2007 and 2008 ?

I know they are both 3.545:1 with Torsen LSD, but are there any other differences that would keep one from being able to install a 2008 R180 in a 2007 STi ?

Thanks.

Im quite certain they would be the same intall wise. I only difference ive seen is the GR/GV etc has longer studs on the back for mounting on the rear subframe. Sort of like say the forester etc... Just had to swap the two studs with ones from any 02-07 impreza, r160, and r180 studs are the same from 02-07... Everything else mounts the same.

Hope this helps.

Used to strip sti for group n build. I left prodrive april 07. We had been sent in 08 samples, pre-production, thet were identical. But i never saw the main production line item. I chatted to the guys after i left and they were resolute that it was all the same, toyota had changed nothing.

From memory, the 06 was 45 deg ramps, the 07 and 08 were 35 deg ramps. The centre diff 07 on was crap, comissioned by subaru and designed with much better judgenent by gkn.

35:65 was '03-'04 era. The '05 onwards were 40:60ish. From '07 onwards they ditched sintered steel grooved discs for paper/cork friction plates. Much quiter at full lock binding but one rally they were shot! We had to replace the entire centre diff after every rally. The earlier ones were rebuildable. The shfts that held the epi gears eventually drifted out locking the plates so we would re peen them back in.
