Default Hazard lights won't turn off after fender-bender

I got in a little fender-bender where I ran into a Camery(I know, I was pissed). But after I got back into my car my hazards were on and I figured I had switched them on when I ran into the car. Turns out it was already in the off position... Couldn't get them turned off.

So when I got home, I disconnected the battery. When I reconnected they were still on. I eventually pulled the fuse for hazards/horn and that got it off but now I have no horn... or hazards haha.

Is there some sort of collision sensor that would cause this? And if so, what do I have to do?

Is it actually your hazards (are they flashing?) or is it this-

Default 2008 WRX hazards stuck ON (no collision)

Didn't hit anything (not in THIS Suby; deer can seem to drop out of the sky in Colorado) but ...

Thread seems to be a close match for my issue; mayhaps a Jedi might know exactly where is/what does a hazard relay look like? I got upside down under dash, tore the column covers off (eh, it was something to try) and .... well, there's a lot of harnesses and wires. Was hoping to find a little CUBE or the like.

2008 stock WRX hazards are suddenly (driving along, and hear CLICKING!) stuck ON. Checked the hazard switch, no effect. I yank the 15A fuse; of course blinkers now fail (and I grok why from other threads). Replace, and still blinking. Guessing (from all the threads and googling) its the dang hazard relay.

I have schematics (thanks KG), but .... I'm no wiring guy. Makes my eyes bleed. Is this HAZARD RELAY easy to isolate/find? Guessing its on diver's side, above pedals somewhere. And not bigger than a breadbox ....

TIA; Hazards came on on my way to work. There's a few parts places around ... in Littleton CO. If I could but identify the thing (color? Size? Location?)/where it actually IS.

regards,

ENL (sunday at work, till 10p, sorta up against it).

FYI, even when I remove key, they still flash. Hence the fuse-pulling ..... sheesh. Cold night tonight .....

It's probably not the relay/flasher, can't turn on by itself without help from a wiring or switch issue. Does the switch feel normal, i.e. does it toggle in and out when you push it? Sometimes they can break internally and get stuck on.
If you have less than 36K on your car it's under warranty so in that case take it in and let the dealer fix it.

Clarification: egregious typo, had 2008 on the brain (also stewing over 2008 Ducati which is in shop, knocked over a month ago in a parking lot).

WRX is 2006! And it has 52K on it.

Hmmmm .... steering column rocker *seems* OK. I popped the steering wheel covers, rocker looked normal, felt normal. Whatever normal is. I've never really USED it. After removing 3 or 4 screws in the freezing cold, I felt I was on a slippery slope, didn't start tearing in any deeper. It all went BACK together OK .... *phew*.

The hazards blink, whether key is in and engaged, or out and at OFF. When I yank hazards/horn fuse (15A) they stop. So does horn. And BOTH turn signals. I'd read earlier that hazard relay is in-line with turn signals, and the failure of the hazard relay effects the turn signals too, but what the heck do I know *rueful grin*.

Payday is Thursday, figured I might save $50-100 replacing the likely failed component, your advice (not helped by my TYPO) has me rethinking. Wish I knew what the heck that hazard relay looked like. Some other online discussion mentioned some possible corrosion of hazard unit components (is it a solenoid?) MIGHT be the cause. The car is pushing 5 years. Been sorta dry around here, no moisture yet in Denver ......

I appreciate the feedback! Seriously .....

regards,

ENL
