Question are my times normal??

This friday I raced my car for the first time at Rocky Mountain Raceway. It was very fun and hope to do it again.

My question is because of the atitude here I know my times should be slower but I don't know how much. The elevation is about 5000 ft. Give or take a little.

My first fun was a 15.15 and my second was a 15.45

Are these about normal?? I don't expect them to be that good because it was my first drag race. I do have an Injen cold air intake, a STI Tranny mount (haven't installed the engine mounts yet) and a STI short shifter. If this helps.

I even beat an Eclipse with nos by .35 of a second I was so proud of myself. That was even on my second run.

i dont know the calculations for altitude, but what i do know is that stock wrx's are capable of running 14.1-14.3.

Should at least be in the high 14's. But capable of mid-low 14s.. Goodluck!

Hell NO! At 5000ft his times are good guys... just think about it, 5000 THOUSAND FEET!!

With launch practice you'll be able to break the 14's, but you'll probably stay high 14's at that altitude.

I ran a 14.5 @5800ft (stage-4 equipped), so your time sounds about right for your first time out. I hope to gradually knock about 0.75s from mine as I gain some experience throwing this thing down the strip.

Don't feel bad. I saw a stock WRX run a 16.5 the same night.

Up here at 6,000 feet in Denver Bandimere Speedway the WRX's are running 15.3's and such, with boost control and uppipe one ran 14.8's

WRX's with 265hp at the wheels on Cobb's Texas dyno are only running 13.3's with 1.8 sec 60 foot times up here. Clearly up here we loose about 1/2 second vs sea-level.

Geez... I really can't see why someone would live so up high and buy a WRX

You should see what the altitude does to NA V8's. My Dakota R/T ran 16.5 in Denver. Near Sea Level, I ran 14.2. It is great watching some young punk take his new (Thanks Daddy) Camero SS up there and run a 17 while getting beat by a stock Countor SVT Turbos and/or small displacement have the advantage in thin air.

Some researching I did while living in Denver, on average NA cars lose 28% HP in Denver (5280 ft or so) Hence 300 HP car just lost 84HP. A 180 HP car loses 50 HP. A turbo car (This does vary greatly, but I'll go with averages and personal experience) will lose 15%. 300HP = 45, 180HP = 27 HP lose. Turbos rule high altitude racing, well N2O helps greatly also.

a stock RS does 95-98 hp @ wheels up here vs 124-128 at Cobb & Altered Atmosphere... We see 17.5 @ 77mph qtr mile stock!

A stock WRX does 156hp on the same dynapack that I did 231hp on...

No, not 5000 miles...5000 feet... i.e. 5000 ft <> 5,000,000 feet

5000ft = 60,000 inches...or am I missing something?
