It's got random if nothing else!

I'm back in the phase of questioning my rim colour. There is so much I still want to do with this setup!

Well it has been a busy winter and a while since I posted anything about the car.

I have been up to a few things:

Recently repainted the Wheels to an even brighter orange, they were actually fading to a peach colour so now they have their pop back.

I have ordered a CS Style side skirt and rear spat kit which should arrive next week for a little extra exterior finishing. This pic isnt my car obviously but shows the skirt installed so you get the idea.....

I also had a difficult time trying to find replacment rotors for my Wilwood BBK. As this is a slightly older kit made by Revolouton Brake the rotors are not a standard Wilwood fitment. Luckily Allan (thanks!) put me in touch with Kevin at RB and we are working to find a good replacment set. Also on the brake front I have purchased a set of prototype 09WRX front brake cooling ducts and backing plates from Josh and should have them soon, I will post up pics of the install as I go along

Apart from that I also have tidied up the engine bay a bit and replaced the green battery for a more colour suitable one, added a Perrin rad shroud and a GS turbo blanket for a little extra bling, its not like I am keeping a top mount cool lol.

In final news Dom is scheduled to fly out in April and retune the car for the pond water we call gas here and get the meth back up and running, should be just in time for the first local "Defrost" meet of the season. I have been pretty busy organising events etc for the Subaru car club that myself and a few other run (RSOC), we are now up to 140 members which is a pretty big deal for a smaller place like this. Excited for what this summer will bring!

Haha funny you say that, I had 2 guys in a Z06 laughing at the car once. Their smiles turned to frowns after I walked them in a little spirited acceleration!

Haha

Love it. I cannot wait to do that myself.

I bought a new 2012 pick up and the Z06 was in the show room. While they were processing my paperwork I was looking at it...

Salesman (friends brother) was like you.need that instead of your rice rocket. I said... ummm no thanks. I opened the trunk and was looking around, he goes good sized trunk isn't it?? Big enough for a can of Nos. My reply was.... " you'll need that can of Nos to keep up with my "rice rocket"

He wasn't amused haha.

I'm not sure it's ignorance, they are just playing the odds... Think about it, probably 9/10 they come across are just stock performance wise... So they have a 90% chance they can beat you.... Sucks to be them when they are wrong tho haha.

Hahaha, funny discussion here boys!

My XTI is kind of stealth, I say kind of! It's black on black, not what you'd call showy at all. Yeah it's low to the ground with big tires and sounds different so some know it's not the usual lesbo wagon. Even with it's stealth stance and low key color, jack azzes still want to pick on it. They usually regret that if I am incline to engage them, some times I'm not inclined to as it's not worth the fuel and potential ticket to embarrass them. One of my Subaru buddies in Detroit who has 3 STI'S and a very fast 06, said to me you're gonna really piss off some folks with your car! I'm like oh well, that's not my problem, is it?

Hey Alex, Is Kevin taking care of you on the rotors? He's a good guy! What pads are you running on the FSL calipers?

I'm not sure if that's good or not, Kevin remembering me

Yeah I spoke with Dave not long ago and he mentioned he broke a rod? on the Foz motor and was re-building it and selling it. That should be a fun car for your buddy and an entertaining drive back home for you!! What is Dave replacing it with? I forgot to ask him.

Such a harsh break, especially considering how expensive are heads are to fix

Oops sorry, did not mean to mis-quote you on that! That' why I had the ? mark! My frickin memory sucks some times! That does suck azz! A <$75 part failing and wreaking havoc on the motor. Were able to salvage the heads and or any of the pistons?

What did you replace it with? The car I mean.

I'm not gonna lie. I just sat here and read your whole thread for hours.... and I give you props for sticking with it. You are a true Subaru enthusiast and even when the worst stuff could happen you still didn't give up. Also i saw the video that Arthur put up like, a long time ago and just now found out that it is your car. Whenever i first saw it I creamed my jeans lol. Sorry for the long post, just been reading this for hours lol. Once again Congrats on the Amazing Subie.

Thanks man I appreciate that, it has been a really long road but the car has come such a long way and grabs attention wherever it goes. It should be at WCSS again this year if you want to take a look

OP did you ever get the 6spd in? I hope you keep the subie and enjoy it as opposed to going to a different platform. Also any plans of running it at the local strip? Would LOVE to see results!

Yeah the 6 speed is next, I keep an eye out for stellar deals on the parts I need but it's a pretty large investment. I think il put my 5 speed for sale while its freshly rebuilt and take the plunge in a couple of months. Then she will definitely hit the strip!

Like 4 years back I was able to find my buddy a deal for a complete STI drivetrain swap (not including brembos) for like $2,500. So deals are out there just keep your eyes peeled like you're doing. Can't wait to see some 1320 results

Although my drag experience is limited I would love to get in to the 11s with this car which should be achievable. I ran a 13.3 with the car at stage 2 only and this is considering our pretty high altitude.

I think with the 6 speed installed its a realistic goal.
