Default Buyimg my FIRST impreza

Hello
So I have like.... $6,346.74 saved for my impreza
Only ~4-6k more for my FIRST ever wrx
Pumped woot
It will probably be a 2004 SEDAN

Anyways I did have some questions
For all you non-Subaru virgins

Do you get pulled over noticeably more when driving your imprezas?

I don't want an attention grabbing color like red, red just screams pull me over

I want something more toned down like black blue or white... Maybe silver?

Is it hard to see with the STi wing?
(thinking of trunk swap)
Although that's an attention grabber....

Should I not even buy the 2004 in the first place?
I was thinking I REALLY like the 2011 wrx in that dark metallic gray...
Should I keep the 10k and continue to save for the 2011?

How bad is insurance? I'm 16 lol no wrecks no tickets...

What do you love about your WRX?

What do you hate about your WRX?

ANY info is greatly appreciated

I'm kinda still wondering what to do, so input would help out tons
Thanks

i had a 2002 wrx and loved every minute of it, dont drive like a dumbass and you wont get pulled over i never even got harassed by cops just kids in hondas and ricer cars, and insurance on mine was a little over 200 a month for full coverage on my parents insurance and i was 18 when i got the car with a clean record, when your young the insurance will kill you, and please dont drive like your jeff gordon, i've seen alot of wrxs getting totalled by kids lately its sad

When I get my car I'm going to baby it as if it were my first born child

No eating in the car
No muddy shoes in the car
No breathing in the car
No smoking in the car
No sexing in the car

I swear to god if someone spills something in my car, I'll cut off their head and use their blood as soap to clean it

You have to have sex in it, just lay a towel down. No one eats or drinks in mine. Other than the occasional road beer. I have a STI and I haven't been pulled over. I generally drive the speed limit though.

Unfortunately, the biggest drop in insurance rates is when you hit 25 or when you get married... that's when the insurance companies think you are statistically less reckless...

Should I get an 04 or an 11? You should narrow your choices. Get an 04 wrx. Modify it, screw around with, and learn about the car. When you go to buy another one (and you will) you will know what you want. There is a thread called "questions we can't answer on nasioc". You should check it out.

I bought my first Subaru in 09. It was an 06 2.5i. I loved it but I wanted more . So a little over a year later I sold it and get my 06 STI. The spoiler isn't in the way to much. And the car grabs attention wherever you go, especially with an exhaust. I'm 19 now and my insurance isn't terrible. I'm still on the parental units plan though lol.

I've got an 08. Absolutely loooove this car.

I would suggest putting the car in your parents name along with the insurance. That's what I'm doing currently. I pay about 100$ a month for full coverage

Look into a Saab 9-2x, they go cheaper then imprezas. I got my 9-2x Aero for a N/A price 6k w/ 80K and it's an 05'.

Good luck!

and yes a 9-2x is a impreza in saab clothing

Get an 05 instead of 04 if you can, nicer interior!

I went from a red S13 240sx with a louuuuud ass exhaust to a stockish black 05 WRX. I get pulled over more in the WRX for strange things- ie not speeding or reckless driving- and the officers seems to have less mercy. I never ever got pulled over in the 240.

Also I'm 21 and pay roughly $100 a month insurance, full coverage, with my dad as the primary driver. (I pay what I was paying before + the difference in what the premium rose). Also consider that insurance will be much higher on the newer car. Not to mention you will have to save another 20k for the 2011.

I just turned twenty, and I got my first WRX four months ago. An '08. She's fantastic, and I love the questions I get about her. Makes people stop and think. I pay about 150 a month in insurance (mom let's me use her insurance, hehe) and I treat it like my kid, man.

Just got my BOV on her this weekend, and a new filter. Nothing too fancy, but gotta start somewhere.

Good luck on your '04, dude!

your insurance costs are depending on where you live and how much coverage you want (EG in my case when I got my first car in CA if it's in Los Angeles it was upwards of almost 300/mo, whereas 150miles south in San Diego, it was less than 200/mo for similar coverage)

I see, I live in Idaho ha
AWD vs Snow, AWD wins
Dont get me wrong, my Pontiac dominates with snow tires, but I still slide a bit...

Also, things I'm doing to get extra cash
-not spending a ton on lunch
-freelance writing (it's boring, but the WRX isn't comming fast enough)
-donating plasma (with parents permission it's a good $65 more per week [260 more per month, 3120 more per year, who can argue those numbers?])

I'm guesstimating(from my research) ill need 10,000-15,000 for a good quality 2004-05

Thanks for the input

Oh... Did I mention I don't know how to drive manual... So the 3 hour drive up from Utah will be "a learning experience"

I still feel that FWD is better than AWD in the snow, unless you are trying to move forward. AWD still can oversteer way worse in the snow if you're turning.
