When modifying cars making significantly more power and torque than stock **** can go wrong... A lot of stuff that a tuner is 100% not in control of that can happen afterwards, mechanically speaking, that could throw that tune out of whack. I'm not saying anyone that has posted here this is the problem... I'm just saying a friend of mine works at a shop and they get it ALL the time that some kids mad his "tune sucks" when a **** part failed playing around. The tuner can only be as good as the car you provide them. something to keep in mind.

With that being said my old bugeye was tuned at ips in 2009 making 300whp. Beat the crap at of it for two years.

Same car with extra goodies tuned by slow motion motorsports on e85 making 350whp. Beat the crap out of it for 6 months, sold it, guy still has it a year later.

I've never had a problem with either setup, ever. current owner is still enjoying it daily at 115 k miles.

I shift that wasn't directed saying your experience wasn't bad. Just speaking generally.
No I didn't take it that way at all. And I see where you're coming from, a lot of people come into shops like that with some many issues that a tune is just a waste of time and money. When I had my 04 at IPS the car only had 23k miles on it so my experience was a bit different. The car was still in like new condition. My friend (Dave Hughes) was a certified Subaru mechanic at Byers and he is the only person I ever let service my car so I know everything was in perfect working order. When my car was re tuned we did it with a road tune so I agree that is definitely the better way to tune that's why I suggested an open source/ Cobb AP, the maps that are on their site are really good and this I probably the way Ill go with my 11. I'll probably have my buddy help me out with it too just to make sure I am doing everything properly.

I am not sure of the specifics, I had a buddy of mine (John Shrek) re tune it so you would have to ask him. He told me it was in the tune and spent a day trying to fix it. He did say it was so bad that I was lucky that it didn't do any damage to motor. After it got re tuned it ran much stronger and smoother and fixed my idle problems. And to be fair I got it tuned back when you guys were at the old shop under different management same tuner though (Bill Thorne)

Hey all, looking at relocating from nc to either the columbus area or lexington ky area. Just wanted to say hello as I know Ill be in the area. Are there any shops in the area with an awd dyno that rent it out? Are there any subie shops around columbus...or the need for another one?

Hi! We have slomotion motorsports with a dyno pack, and a few other shops - we also have a few really great Subaru mechanics in our area. SigmaTec automotive in Hilliard is my preferred shop.
We have a decently active community here too.

Thumbs up

SigmaTec (in Hilliard) is the place to go! ZB is a great guy and very reasonable with his rates. I have a hard time trusting anyone else after having him working on my car.

Anybody running/spectating in the Suby Challenge in Lafayette, IN on 8/17? I will be running in SMS.
Its a great time if you've never been, I went to Purdue and have been several times. There is a plant tour on Friday, 8/16, very cool as well if you can make it.
I just saw a post that Dave Higgins will be there in his gymkhana grid car as well!

Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm originally a BMW guy, but decided to branch out into the Subie world. I just picked up a '13 WRX Limited Hatchback as a DD, named her Silvia, and so far I'm in love. Got it last Friday and already have 1500 miles on her (drove it home from a dealer in VA and a work trip to Illinois). So far my plans are to TRY and keep the drivetrain stock for a while and just do a few little mods here and there. I've still got the e46 (retired from DD as of friday) and a '75 2002 that will take up most of my mod funds.

Some pics from the drive home:
