Default How do you test OBD2 port wiring?

So, I've got my wrx motor installed in my 97 legacy and it runs! I bought a code scanner and hooked it up to see what codes it is throwing but the reader won't register. It says it's not getting a signal from the port. How do I test the pinouts on the port to see which one is not functioning as it should?

Check for continuity between the OBD2 pinouts and where the other end of the wire is supposed to be.

For the correct ECU pins to test it depends on what year WRX wiring harness you are using.

First check the grounds to make sure they are connected.
