Default I dare you!!

I was searching the achieves and I found a thread about my car and Alex was asking about if the parts from the JDM Legacy fit up to a USDM Legacy. One guy even wrote back to say yes because he talked to me and I said they just bolted right up, well... that was about 15% correct. In thuth NOTHING fit corectly. I had to CONVERT my car to JDM specs. NOTHING is or was less than totaly custom! Here is the thread I am refering to:Old Discussion

My question on that thread never did get answered. Did those spats fit onto USDM side skirts? And where did you get them?

very nice car btw. I think thats the only BE I've seen with the TK kit that was not from the TK website. Mad props to you.

What parts were you trying to install?
What did you have to modify?

Give us a whole story please.

I'd love more details too. I decided to shelve my Tommy Kaira bumper plans for my BG for now. It was going to cost over $1000 by the time I imported it, and I didn't even know what sort of modifications I'd have to do to make it work on my car. Too much risk for now, but I'll probably try again later.

Yeah yeah, me too!!!

Hey Youpers, very sweet looking ride you got. Couple of questions, what springs/shocks are you running, and how do you like them? Were they complete bolt up, or another custom thing?

Also, how'd you tint your front turn indicators, looks pretty sweet.

I definitely want more details. I shall be getting an 03 in a few months and I would love to add some exterior extra looks to it. I think that car looks damn good. How were the prices? availability?

Default sorry for the wait

Sorry it takes me so long to respond to these threads. I rarely get to brouse the I club but when I do I try to get to everythiing.

The side spats are made by STI as a dealer option for the B4. I got them from a guy who used to run Racebreed. The needed some trimming and the mounting clips needed to be shaved off to be replaced by snap pins.

The only reason I jumped to writing this thread as harsh as it was, was because I put a lot of hours into making everything match up and look uniform. It felt like an insult when someone said that everything was bolt up, and even that wasnt so bad but the fact that he stated that I told him that was suprising. To start with the whole story on why nothing bolted up its best to start with the bigest head ach of it all I think. That was no doubt the front end. In japan they dont share the same crash test standards we do. So to say the least, their cars have much less metal on them and to get my car to match theirs I had to introduce my car to a cutting torch and a mig welder. Oh and a hack saw in one spot. The end result was a lot of scrap metal and stirofoam left overs. About 25Lbs!

The springs are SYMS and the struts are stock. I thought about STI but they wanted an arm and a leg for them, Fall 2002 KYB will be making shocks for it so Im waiting to those. The lights were done by a paint shop. I think he said they used a PPG toner.

As far as prices and avalibility for exterior mods for this car, I dont even know where you would find the stuff any more sence my guy closed up his shop and Im still tring to contact him. If I find him I will try to post what hes got. He told me the reason he closed was because he was getting flooded by questions and no real serious buyers. And as far as price, I could have bought another Legacy by now. The only reason Im still spending money on it is because I want to get it published, at least thats the plan.

Sorry for the spelling everyone and I hope this clears up those questions. There is so much more that has been done sence those pictures and the engine is in pieces as we speak so as soon as it is finished with this stage I will post new pictures.
