Default NJ 2005 OBP Subaru Sti

Not 100% sure if I want to sell it yet. I recently had my short block replaced and my heads repaired in July, the car feels brand new and also a new vf39(replaced by Subaru, estimate of cost around 12k). To sum up the story one of my pistons was out of place and i was burning oil real bad. Everything was done at Subaru. I feel I can get more for the car now. Since estimates were around 12k for the repairs and the kelly blue book value of the car now with 52k on it is $17500 for trade in and around 19200 for private seller. I would be trying to sell it for around $24,000 since the value of the car should have gone up, since the car should last longer now. This is just to see if anybody would buy it. If there are any serious inquiries I would definitely be willing to sell the car. For any serious buyers I will provide more information if needed.

lol you do realize a motor rebuild decreases the value of the car? Not a 6.5k increase. Interested in pictures. Any mods?

Whoa. I guess I went too high for you guys. Well I was thinkin the car would last longer so I upped the value of it. The 17500 is actaully trade in value. So private seller I would go around 21k then. I will post pics up later. No mods right now just bc racing coilovers n an aftermarket clutchmasters clutch rated at 600 whp. I had to put the car back to stock so subaru would fix it. Also painted stock bbs rims red.

the most you can get with a Fed up motor like that is like 12k sorry homie but its about 800$ just to have the motor pulled and installed and to have it rebuilt with no parts is about 1300$ and you dont know if the cylinder walls are messed up at all.. for the 12k you spent you could have got a JDM sti motor reand diff brembos hole set up for around 10k... your better off just parting the hole car out cuz no one is going to buy a car with a messed up motor for 24k lol most i would pay is 12k tops.. or here's a good idea bring it back to subaru and have them fix it for half the price like you said they are the ones that did the work and rebuild the motor i think they are reliable cuz if a piston was is out of place they installed it wrong.. pistons dont just move out of place by them self's so you might want to rethink your price by a lot other then that if you cant afford to fix it just part the thing out GL to you sir im not trying to be rude or sound like a D but its the truth

Aww man.. Really sorry to hear this story. I hope your luck turns around. This is why when I am buying my replacement sti/evo I'm going to get a compression/leakdown test done. You know what you should do, have the dealership do a compression/leakdown if they already haven't and post up the scanned results sheet. That might help your sale!

glws!

wait i'm confused. was the first engine shot with the piston then you just had it replaced? or does it have a blown engine right now?

I just got the motor repaired in July. From what I read from my repair sheet the motor was repaired. I could be reading it wrong though.

You should scan the paperwork detailing what they did and upload it. That will help it sell...

I just looked at the maintenance sheet again. They replaced the short block and repaired the heads. I will scan and put up paper work.
