Default Why are 90's Imprezas green?

In my search for a new RX car I have noticed that almost every 90's Impreza (and Legacy for that matter) is dark green. Was it cool to buy green Subarus back then or was there some kind of color rebellion/cleansing where all other colored cars were destroyed? I just find it odd.

I can't say why, but I can say that I had noticed this too. In fact, I had always assumed that the dark green was something like a "signature color" for them.

Edit: Deleted --- not in right thread.

I'm telling you they are all green. I think if you scrape off the other colors there will be green underneath.

I was going to speculate that the green ones were bought by old foggies who actually take perfect care of their cars and drive them forever, so the green ones are the only ones still around that haven't been painted flat black, flamed out, totalled, or rallied to death.
