the offset is a measurement that in a sense tells you how far the wheel is going to stick out, +17 and +28 are extremely aggressive for a subaru. i highly suggest you read this http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=335263

you will be very limited on tire sizes. Especially if you don't want to modify your fenders. You'll have to roll all around for both of those fitments. If you don't want to pull, the +17's will require a 215/40 tire at the max, and the +28's would require a 225/40 at the max. If you are OK with fender modification, pull the **** out of your fenders and you can run much wider tires.

You will be extremely limiting yourself.

yup not to mention if you go with a 215/40 or even a 225/40 the side wall is going to be really small

Thanks for the comments.
I want it to be aggressive but not to the point that I have to pull the fenders and also I am sitting on BC racing BR coilovers.
If I get the +28 and I roll the fenders will I be able to run 245/40/17?

Share your opinions

Both of those wheel offsets are god awful for Subarus. They will limit your tire choices, require irreversible mods to make them fit, reduce handling characteristics, and make the car less reliable.

I suggest getting a wheel that fits.

Like i said. 225/40 is the max if you dont want to pull fenders. I had to pull the hell out of my fenders to fit 235/40's. I'm now at the point of no return, with 17x9 +10/+15 with 245/40 595's.

it requires alot of work.

Why on earth would you run a 9" wheel and use tires that belong on 7" wheels?

For the record, 225/40/17s are too short.

They already gave you your answer. Use a higher offset wheel (40+). It will not be "flush" or aggressive, but it will clear larger tires with pretty much 0 modification.

My question now is what's the widest tire I can put on the 17x9 +28 with just rolling the fenders?
Also does anyone know how much it costs to pull fenders?

Thanks

^^ having a shop do it will be texa$. this is typically something that is done by yourself, at home. every wheel set up requires a different amount of work, and needs to be customized to your fitment.

did you not read a single ****ing post in this thread?

+28 is still an aggressive fitment! If you are trying to avoid doing a lot of fender mods you need to run a skinny tire!!! If you want wider tires, you need to pick a different wheel!
