Nobody has run on it...ever. But a little birdie tells me that there should be some events being run there over the summer. I also hear that another decent size event could be there as well.

This is what Adam had to say about it (the guy who pretty much aquired the site for the Philly region)

Quote:
Here is what the site looks like:

Here is a better view since it gets cut off - Dover aerial

Its 913,000 square feet of space for just the course. It will be one of the biggest sites in the country that the SCCA uses. This site is really a premier site for Solo. Walking the site yesterday the macadam seems to have a lot of grip with no runoff from anywhere so it should be pretty grippy and is pretty smooth. The newer section is absolutely perfectly smooth, the older section has some bumps but, nothing major.

It also should be a really good spectator site. Not quite as good as Dover but, still very good. Courses here will be well over 1 minute in length
No one has raced on it yet but keep an eye on the Philly region schedule as we will be the first

I was already up in the air about Nationals because it's the first week of school in the county where I currently teach. I'd been tossing around the idea of seeing about having a co-driver take the car out, and me just flying in/out for the ProSolo Finale.

But with the closest Pro being NJ (what's that going to be? 5-6 hours on a Friday evening? ), and the second closest being Oscoda (10 hours, again on a Friday evening)... <shrug> I'm going to have to think long and hard about whether or not I want to worry about autocrossing any more, because if I take this year off, I have a strong feeling, I won't be back.

Yeah right....next thing you know, you'll be "moving to San Diego"

I'm debating things from a class change/transmission longevity standpoint.

Good to know. This gives me a better idea of when the Evo school comes to Packwood (generally between the Tour and the Prosolo), and when I can expect to take some time off work to learn to suck less.

I don't like beaches, cities or California in general.

This is the problem -- I don't have a tow vehicle. Even if I broke down and bought one, I don't think the neighbors would be particularly happy with two trucks, two trailers, three Camaros and a WRX in the driveway and street. If I continue to be afraid to drive the car to an event 30 minutes away (FedEx Field), then what's the point in me fighting stop-and-go traffic on I-95 -- much less driving 10 hours -- and paying $$$ in tolls just to drive like a ***** to make sure the car makes it home so that I can go to work on Monday morning?

So, the schedule is just an excuse for me to feel better about walking away. And maybe I'll move to Toronto. More hockey.

Maybe you should sell a couple of those mullet mobiles then!

The Pro schedule sucks ass for east coasters. And now I won't be able to beat up on the DC people in the first annual DC Pro weekend hockey tournament.

Anyone know why Toledo became a tour?

Karen, I think Toronto is a big city.....you wouldn't like it! J/K....I can appreciate your position on things. It's comforting knowing we have a trailer to push the car onto when things go bad. I hope you decide to stick with it, or at least stay in touch.!

waktasz: I'm pretty sure Howard knows why Toledo is a 'tour this year....email him?

And that is probably one of the biggest reasons I'm sad about no DC Pro this year. I really wanted to set up that hockey game!! We even had at least one goaltender who was committed to attending, and you do you know how difficult that is to arrange?

RallyCross National schedule is up also, good time! Unfortunately almost EVERYTHING conflicts with our regional schedules, so no good practice in between the big races. Oh well.

I dig the Lincoln SUPER WEEKEND, but uh, it's my wedding anniversary on the 29th. THANK GOD her brother just moved in Omaha, this marriage may be saved!!

No fingerlakes... and I really thought the New Meadowlands would land a NT (not just a Pro) as well.

So the only close one is Dover and then 10+ hours to any of the others. I better start working overtime now so I can get the time off!

Who cares about the tours. You can qualify for nats with a single divisional or tour (or just pay your way in). The biggest problem is qualifying for the Pro championship which requires two Pros.

ProSolo = more laps + more fun + Challenge competition. Makes running a Tour, by comparison, boorish.

That too. I just didn't wanna say it

I'm already working on somehow bribing the Philly people to try a Pro at Dover. From what I've heard from our region though, the venue couldn't support it.

Yeah. Then after a couple years... you might. But you're right about the schedule. It's even harder for those of us up in New England... has been like that ever since Petersburg Pro disappeared. The cubic increase in gas and time out from work....

Not trying to convince you to quit... you've been doing this much longer than I... but the writing was on the wall when the gas prices went above $2/gal. (Yes... that was only 4-5 years ago, and it hit about $3 both summers heading out to Kansas in '05 and '06.)
