don't be more of an idiot and try to fight it in court - you'll never win that one.

you pulled a stupid move (even stupid-er because you did it in front of a cop...), and got caught. Pay for it and move on.

not tryin to be a dick here, but really, not a smart idea.

good luck!

uhh....
Salt Lake is it?

You won't win in Salt Lake, nobody wins in Salt Lake. I would leave the state alltogether if I were you. The only thing worth a damn is Moab and it's surrounding canyons.

If you do try an fight in court, take some english lessons first.

I say, pay the $40 and consider it to be your dumb-**** tax for the year.

Incidentally, 40 bux for a traffic ticket isn't bad. About a year and a half ago, I got nailed for an illegal U-turn on the Vegas strip. It was one of those "Can I U-Turn here? Well, three other cars just did so here I go... Hey... What's that motorcycle cop pointing at me for?" situations. $95 for making a U-turn at Las Vegas Boulevard & Tropicana. Ouch.

I paid the ticket and pretended I blew the $95 at a craps table.

Punctuation?!? Can you say unintelligable run-on sentence? If you're going to fight this in court, your grammar isn't going to help. Not trying to be a dick, but cripes!

With your spelling and grammar I really can't understand what happened. I would give you this piece of advice though:

When the cop asks you "Do you know why I pulled you over", the correct answer is definetly NOT yes. This is admitting guilt. It's not "Because you cops are such pricks pulling a innocent man over" either. Nor is it "Why don't you go catch the real criminals?" "Sorry officer, I don't" might be good for some situations.

If the intersection is that confusing I would take a picture of the lights in the intersection. This would be the only way you would have a chance in court. If it's not confusing, pay the fine, you won't have a chance. It doesn't hurt to fight a ticket. You either lose or you don't as opposed to just admitting guilt by paying the ticket. If you do fight it, be humble, and remember it's not the cops fault you cut him off. And definately don't call him a pig (origional post), this only pisses them off (and you will lose that fight).

Oh, and next time, look for cops before doing something stupid. Big time rookie mistake (although with only driving for 10 months you are a rookie).

I don't know about Utah, but in Colorado you can show up on your court date and they usually reduce the fine and points (and add on a small court fee), but it's almost always cheaper.

I am not defending the cops here but I know Colorado Springs police are not allowed to use there lights and sirens except in certain situations. They are supposed to run lights and speed without lights on to still get to the call as fast as possible. Not sure how it is there though.

Yes, in all of Utah they are supposed to have lights on if they are going over the speed limit. But don't worry about them breaking the law, the only reason they become cops is so they can break the law. I saw one turn on his lights so he could run a red light then about 2 block down the road he was waiting in a Arby's drive through window. And I saw one recently make a u-turn over an island to pull into a Burger King. Happens all the time.

Snowman, do not go to court on this. You screwed up, it is that simple. However, when you go in to pay the ticket tell the person there your case and they will usually help you out. They are the ones you would have to tell you want to actually fight it in court, but don't take it that far, it will only end up worse than if you didn't.
