Default Is it worth it?: Taking my car off the road till march.

Hey guys,

A little background info. Im in NY and bought myself an 08 wrx hatch about 2 months back. Since im only 16 and dont even have my full license I am only driving it to school and work(Vans photographer-which is all over Long Island).

I will be 17 in March and am debating saving the $1,400 I would be paying for insurance, and putting it into the car to finish up my stage 2 along with sport springs, swaybars+endlinks, prodrives and re-doing all my interior black. It would also give me time to install my entire kicker system i got hooked up with. This would mean turning in the plates and all.
I would also have to get a quality cover since my garage is strictly a roof with no sides which happens to sit right on an ocean (every North wind brings lots of "salt spray" with it)
For school I would simply get a ride with a friend and work I would use my moms jeep.

Whats your opinion on it? Is it worth completely un insuring it or maybe just getting rid of collision with a higher deductible untill march...

I know I am only a kid to many of you but I would really appreciate the help.

Will Mayer

<answer your not going to like>
keep driving the car or park it
start auto-xing in the spring and really learn to drive
drivers training teaches you how not to crash, but not how to drive (consider Evolution Performance Driving School)
after a year of experience make the car faster

search FIRST, then PM!!!

I'll second that.

Besides, unless you own the car out right, don't you have to keep insurance on the car?...

IBwonderingwhyteenagerboughtsuchandexpensivetoinsu recar

IBthatiswhyIbuiltmyfirst'homemadewrx'...full insurance for like $60 a month, sleeper and faster

Both of you, thanks for the advise. I ended up getting a few more photo jobs with vans and made the money to keep it insured through the winter along with a nice set of studless tires. I think the driving school is definitally a good idea for the spring, definitally going to have to look into that. The way my work is now I should have insurance covered for the next year, stage two done along with suspention and wheels by spring so I'll be ready for autox.
Thanks again
