Default Do sti/wrx drivers wave at you on the street?

I've had my '11 WRX for about a month now and every time a wrx or sti is next to me or in the opposite lane, they always wave at me and I wave back.

Do you guys find this happening alot? I think it is awesome because my school has at least 5 WRX/STI's and we always wave at each other when we drive by.

Never once has another Toyota Camry driver waved at me when I drove the '96 Camry or another RX350 owner wave at me when I drove the Lexus RX350. I wonder if Evo/Lancer owners wave at each other too...

Its a subaru thing man, respect for someone loving the same car you do. Enjoy it! I also live in a college town and there are a few other wrx's and sti's running around. No clue who they are but we always wave!

Haha that's awesome to hear. Yeah... I'd really like to see Honda Civic drivers waving at each other.

Now don't go getting all elitist quite yet. VW owners do this as well. When I drove a Corrado for a couple months I got the same peace sign from others with modified VWs.

It definitely is a good feeling.

First time I got a wave from a same model car was in a S2000.

I've seen it more with WRX drivers, not so much when I had my Legacy.

Other WRX/STI drivers wave probably 90% of the time if they see me. When I drove my S2000 I got waves from other S2000 drivers and had a Civic try and run me off the road so I would notice him???

I would imagine any niche performance cars would elicit a wave though, as evidenced by the waves I got in my S2000.

Jeep Wave!

Having owned 2 Wranglers, I can tell you that the Jeep Wave owns all others by miles.

Yep, it's a cult thing with Subies. Shows you're into the same kinda stoke.
My wife thinks it's stupid because she doesn't get the whole spool thing. She also thinks it's weird when I end up exchanging words with other Subie owners like at gas stations or wherever. When I had a Jeep CJ, other owners would ALL wave... way more than Subie owners do.
Motorcyclists wave. Subie's wave. CJ/Wranglers wave. Others don't, like Camry drivers. What are they gonna do? Wave to eachother and think, "oh, hai, you spent $25k on a plainmobile too? We coulda got way more fun-per-gallon in a Subie. Sigh."

You will find that more and more older model Subaru owners are learning to spot the 3G versions and waving. Slowly, they are beginning to accept the newer design as true WRX/STIs. The 2011s made it easier for them because of its more aggressive design features.

I find with the WRX it's more of an all fingers lift off the wheel and a nod. Except when hurtling down a gravel rode with a huge canoe on the roof, and then seeing your exact car coming at you with a canoe on the roof, then it's a big wave

In a pre-96 Geo Tracker/Asuna Sunrunner/Suzuki Vitara/Chevy Tracker it's a full wave and big smile

I wave at every WRX/STi when I am in mine

I wave at every 70s benz sl when I am in my 79 450sl

When I am driving my del sol I wave at every other del sol that is not riced. I also give the nod to anyone I see with a nice not riced EG/EK civic.

When riding my 77 honda cb750 I wave at all other moterbikes even mopeds

its not just a subaru thing. happens with evos, s2000s and many other cars that have a strong enthusiast following and arent just driven by the masses like camrys, civics, accords etc.

hes right....in high school my friend had a wrangler. He'd get waves all the time.

I've gotten a few from wrx's here in the south, but I'll also say that wranglers outnumber wrx/sti's 20 to 1 easily down here.

Guy near me has a 08-09 STI and he did a double take passing my car the other day (prob confused him to see the same STI bodystyle with WRX badges). Slowed down, then gave me the thumbs up and headnod then took off.

I've had my STI about 3 weeks now and the Subaru wave frequency is much higher than in my old car. I used to have an e46 330 and I'd seldom get waves from other modded e46's.

At least around here I never get subaru waves unless it's an 02-07. Newer wrx/sti owners just look confused after I wave

The people who owned the EP (2002-2005 Civic SI) usually waved at each other. Hated the other models though.

I rarely see a wrx/sti in my area, just a bunch of outbacks and foresters driven by old people. But when I do, I always chuck the deuce. I also get waves from evo guys too since those are scarce around here too.
