Thinking of buying one of these and sending it of to Competition Engineering in Phx,AZ and having them rebuilt it. I have had them rebuild a couple of turbos for VW air cooled motors and they do an awesome job. so hopefully I dont get a call back with them laughing at me telling me I bought a piece of junk.

Be carful when buying one just so you can have it rebuilt with genuine stuff. Ive cracked open a few to rebuild them only to find out that a MHI rebuild kit wont work because the center section was different and the turbine shaft was a bigger diameter then the bearings.

I say if you have mechanical/fab skills, 1/2 a brain, a spare car, funds to fix asplosions, and free time...

Why not?

I get stupid crap all the time just to tinker. I mostly do this with my e30, but I've come to find most "cheap crap" usually works fine but requires some work to raise the quality a bit. With the money you save it's usually worth it.

Now if you're on a tight budget and this is your daily. Just don't cookie!

You sir are an idiot and do not know what your talking about. They have 2 manufacturing plants over seas where most of their turbos come from. China. i KNOW this for a fact. Same company who stamped Apexi's stuff, same company who made godspeeds equipment. For the product itself its hit a miss. I ran a couple of their items on my other cars and never had a problem. It was my dd as well. the term you get what you pay for comes correct.

I guess its different for those out of state dealing with reshipping if a turbo fails or bad product if something were to go out. Least i can say when I had a issue they were less of a hassle to deal with than most companys. I think they have done well with themselves as a company. As you can see they are progressing and opening more into the market and have not folded like other companys such as ssautochrome and etc.

I would pass on this from looking at pictures the center section looks to be quite small, I think you'll have issues cooling the turbo down. the other thing to think about is that a turbo car spin over 100,000 RPM and if you can't cool it down properly you always have the possibility of it exploding and dumping bits of turbo impeller your intake or even worse what if the housing is thin or made of cheap aluminum the impeller could come flying out and into the engine bay a do a a lot of damage to your car or you. Look up videos of a clutch exploding It would be a bit like that.
