Default white smoke coming from turbo/downpipe and exhaust smell inside my cockpit?

Hi guys.. I Am new to turbo and to subarus lol. Well first things first, i got a 05 wrx stock ej20 only mods are fujita long arm cai, hks carbon ti cbe, 3" bellmouth dp running no cat, full piping, hks sqv bov, and turboxs manual boost controller, haven't gotten the tune or Cobb ap v2 yet but will very soon.. NOW FOR THE BAD, car runs great checked all hoses and belts checked all possible leaks and checked for some type of liquid that could be burning on the downpipe and found nothing. when the car is on for a bit it starts to smell like exhaust fumes and after I turn it off smoke bellows out from the hood scoop but real thin white smoke. I've popped the hood to see where the smoke is coming from and I believe that I may need a new gasket in between the downpipe and turbo.. Recently installed hks carbon ti turboback and that was the last time I saw the gasket and it was pretty crappy.. Before the turbo back it never smoked so idk. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas that could help it would be very appreciated I'm thinking it's the gasket.

This is your problem right here.
You cannot put a full TBE and CAI on an 05 without a tune. Your BOV is also probably causing problems. You cannot put an MBC on any year WRX without a tune.

You're lucky your car runs at all.

Wayyyy to many parts for not having a tune. An accessport doesn't even have a suitable tune for an aftermarket MBC. You definitely need a tune before you do anymore driving on that car, or put the stock intake and downpipe back on, and take off the boost controller.

I have the same issue and I am on the acessport stage 2 map. I even have a 05 wrx with turboback and an intake and turbo inlet. And it smokes from the turbo/ downpipe area sometimes.

Yeah get tuned ASAP, way dangerous to be running without a tune, and if your running a stock turbo your not going to want to be turning that boost up much at all farthest my tuner said I can go up and be safe is to 16psi. I figure Ill stay at 14 and now ruin the turbo. Also get a set of GrimmSpeed Gasket, for all the exhaust components. I recently did and it made a heck of a difference.

Alright thanks for the Info guys definately helped!
I am definately gonna get a tune tomorrow.. And also get those gaskets to be safe. I love the sound of the bov but that's the second time I heard it hurts the engine.. I wonder if I can find someone to recirculate it after the tune.
None the less thanks for the help

Fill out your profile. Where are you?
13-14psi is barely stock boost levels. With your mods, you can go up a bit and be safe.
But don't drive it without a tune unless absolutely necessary.

Not to beat a dead horse. But yea a tune. And I had more or mess the same issue difference was I was getting smoke from my vents. My A/C drain tube was rubbing on my DP. Well melted to it. Tube comes thru the firewall. Half way down the DP. I drive an 07 STi. So that might not be the issue at all.

Ahhh exact prob I have as well white smoke comes out the vents so I just close them and roll with the windows down lol. The tube was rubbing against the downpipe and melted a nice fat hole so I just plugged it in a bit more and It doesn't touch anymore.

I'm in moreno valley ca.. My boost gauge reads 11-12 but it needs to be recalibrated so idk. I'm gonna have to drive it to this shop in temecula tomorrow for the tune and see if they have some gaskets as well. Hopefully after that the problem will be solved then I can buy the Cobb ap.

You don't need an AP, and you certainly won't need to buy one after the tune.

Yea , you can recirculate by putting the stock BOV back on ( if you still have it ) , maybe even borrow one from a friend or just buy the recirculation kit for the HKS SSQV . I think the recirculation kits are around $50 .
