I've had one for two months, but never got around to getting it cut yet.
I do know that the key is thicker and won't fit in our ignition unless you thin it out with a dremel or something similar. But it will work after that. -Steve |

Which STi key are you referring to? The black/pink one?
FWIW, the black/pink ones do have thickness issues with the US ignitions, although one of the guys up here just came back from a mission in Japan, and gave me a "Legacy accessories" magazine he picked up from the dealer, and in it is the (I'm assuming here) new STi key, the one that resembles the last gen Z key, all metal, key hole offset, etc.. (wish had a scanner), which *should* mean it would fit OK. |

i've got an all-metal "subaru" key that fits perfectly. sounds like it might be the one in the accessories catalog. i can try to get a pic up if anyone's interested..

Yep, Froggert has the key I was thinking of that's in the accessories catalog.
Hmmm....Oh well. Many Impreza guys have "shaved" the key down a bit, I think that was the only problem with them. Dunno though. |

Yeah very happy. just got my key from WRX_only, the one i showed above, and it does fit... appears to be too thick, and slightly different elsewhere, but got it cut(free by a local auto parts store) and it fit right in. felt a little stiff at first, but after a few inserts and removals, all good.

I always though the idea of special keys where lame, but that one looks nice. What kinda of pricing and are there knock offs that look as good?

I believe they are rather pricey. Well for a little metal key that is. But it says STI what do you expect

$40 from WRX_only.
Oddly enough, women LOVE this key. I get all kinds of compliments on it. It's much better than the stamped-looking key that comes stock. -S |

Z1 Performance has these for 24 also and his offer is available "Forrever" so to say (as in not a group buy).
He also owns a 91 legacy turbo, I PM'd him to see if it fits his car. Last edited by ciper; 07-09-2002 at 02:51 PM. |
