Default How many miles on your 300hp 2.0l?

Just curious what kind of mileage you guys are getting on your cars with 20ish PSI, intake, exhaust, and tune?

I'm getting a 300hp WRX with 55k on the motor, just curious how long it will last me with proper maintenance.

Mine just hit 130k, it's making about 310-320 at the crank and runs fine.

Not 20ish psi but, 17 on the stock TD04. Full exhaust and tune since about 10K. Now at 203K and still running strong. Only dyno's to about 220 or so to the wheels. Stock tranny as well. Treat it nice and it will last a long time.

203K

The rods are the weakest link from what i hear? Would you guys recommend getting some forged rods eventually?

It is actually the rod bearings and not the rods themselves so much. Now, don't get me wrong, one you start getting upwards of 300 whp and above the rods may become an issue.

Typically you will see rod bearings go out from oil starvation, the "wrong" oil, or detonation. Det. will also kill your ringlands.

Well, I just purchased my 02, and it has 255,000 miles on it. Original motor, running 18psi for approximately 120,000 miles of that. 300ish crank, still running fine. I'll run it till it dies, then upgrade to a 2.5.

My '02 with a Cobb stage 2 tune (225 whp?) only lasted till 149k before it destroyed a rod bearing. It was at that power level for about 100k miles.

Before I had a piston finally let go at a total of 114k miles, over 85k modded miles:

~38k miles at ~22 psi on my 20G making 285tq/325whp 93 octane and
~7k miles at ~26 psi on my 20G making 335tq/360whp 100 octane

I don't think the piston would have failed at that time if I didn't use 100 octane from a pump as I suspect bad gas.
