Default So I'm thinking of getting a Legacy

I decided I'm going to sell my
swapped '98 RS and go for a regular Subaru for commuting. I love the RS, but I just don't want to put any more money in for repairs. I found a 2005 2.5i at a good price and moderate mileage. Is this a good year/model for the Legacy and are there any common issues I should watch out for?

Truly I recommend the GT model. Boost is nice.

Based on what I have heard the earlier issues with blown head gaskets has been fixed and Legacys for this model year are reliable. I would just ask to see service history on the car and do all the usual checks / road test to verify that the car is in good condition and all the typical fluids appear to be fresh. Do a carfax, and look out for signs of body damage, etc...

Being a 2005, you could over time pick up some Legacy GT suspension / brake / wheel parts. Understand you will never reach the performance potential of the GT, but then again, your fuel mileage will never drop as low, either.

I took a 2.5i for a test drive today, the handling/acceleration were nowhere near my current car, but that's to be expected since it's not a performance model. It's a pretty smooth ride though, clean inside and out. Both history reports checked out fine, it has 42k miles, still looks like a new car. The dealer wouldn't budge on the price, i'm waiting on a call.
