Default EWG Mufflers

Bought some perforated tube and fiberglass packing material earlier last week. Stuff finally showed up today. I machined a die early this week to have the 1.5" tube thats used for the dual dumptubes on a full-race setup (38mm ewgs) so that they have a smooth transition to 2" which is the OD of the "muffler" section and to have a overall cleaner appearance. Cleaned it all up after cutting and forming and welded it all together. Here is the outcome-

Looks awesome, I'm intrigued to hear what one would sound like.

Beautiful work, but I'll keep my open dump tube.

Installed a pair of these on a full-race equipped car. Install wasnt too bad and went fairly smooth. Now initially i thought the mufflers were gonna help a lot, but after building them i started to have my doubts on how these were realistically going to affect the level of obnoxious noise ewg's make. There is 12" of perforated tube and packing material, but the 1/4" of space around the perforated tube is what gave me doubts on the effectiveness of the muffler. But after a quick spin to test them out I was very happy with the outcome. Mufflers exceeded my expectations and do a great job of making things sounds good.

It may just be the angle, but those look like that hang really low!

I like the little supertrapp disc muffler, it also dissapates the exhaust out of the sides so it doesnt bounce off the road.

Man, i've wanted to do this forever...

Dual exhausts with one central dinky EWG one. You never see a car with 3 exhaust pipes.

Actually dont hang down too low. The pass side one is up fairly nice and tight. The driver side one hangs down a tad past the downpipe but is fitted up as tight as i could get it.

Overall the packaging of everything went well, considering I had to fit 2 small mufflers in there.

very nice!! I made my own chambered style ewg muffler for my honda when I had an external dump. It made a huge difference in noise reduction. You could still hear it but, it wasn't obnoxious anymore

Wow! 11 decibels is a lot. It's like going from an Invidia N1 exhaust to a standard muffler.

I just run a small supertrap on my dump tube. It works great, and lets me adjust the sound level by adding or removing discs.

You can hear what it sounds like here:

And scroll though my other recent vids to hear it with the open dumps.

Thanks again for the mufflers! They worked out PERFECTLY. And these are not directed straight at the ground. I requested a slight downward angle just so they weren't blowing at the ground or at my car, because yes if they were turned down to the ground the sound would just bounce back and i'd still be over my sound limit.

FYI...to all the fabricator guys out here...I'd be willing to pay someone to fab me an EWG muffler for my dump pipe.

It's the P&L EWG Set-up, and my dump pipe is not as close to the downpipe as in this thread.
http://www.iwsti.com/forums/vendor-g...group-buy.html

If anyone's interested, and needs measurement, I can get the info ASAP.

Thanks,
BTD.

I couldnt actually make a full working set, only the mufflers. No way of knowing how to make the dumptubes to fit someones actual setup.

The mufflers themselves don't hang lower than the subframe, but the turndowns I have on the ends do by an inch or so.

Why not just run the dump tubes into the Down Pipe?

Dumping the wastegate back into the downpipe or even further down the line in the exhaust creates a swirling gasses action creating a little back pressure....or you can just say "because race car." Either work really.
