Default "All Subaru Shootout" East Coast Drag Day

Just thought I'd put this info up here for anyone interested in taking a road trip. Still about two months away, but this gives you time to make plans if needed.

Check out the Original Thread Here , but here is the basic info...

When-Saturday, September 14th. 12:00-4:00(roughly)
Where- Beaver Springs Dragway, Beaver Springs(Central), PA. www.beaversprings.com
How much- $30.00 for racers and vendors, Spectators are free.
Who-Any Subaru vehicle that's powered by a Subaru motor. Absolutely no other vehicles racing that day, so don't show up in your Mitsu GSX or whatever looking to spank some WRXs. There is an all-import/Sport Compact Car Shootout the next day at the track so you are welcome to race at that.
Prizes?- Yes. W&L Subaru from Northumberland, PA is putting up $100, $75, and $50 to the top three quickest Subes. As of right now, there are no seperate classes and whatnot, but if any of the vendors or other dealers what to step forward to offer something for the NA guys or whatever, feel free. A few of the tuners already stated they are basically just going for "bragging rights" and not the money, so you'll still have a chance
Food- Yes, the food stand will be open.
Fuel- Sunoco 112 and 104 GT(unleaded). Nitrous also available.

Should be a great weekend with the Subaru Drags on Saturday, then the Import Race on Sunday. And FWIW, this is a zero profit event. That $30 is the track fee which you pay when you get to the track.

BTW, maybe this could be made a sticky a month before hand?

That's not too far away. I'll go, but only as a spectator. I'm not to much into beating on my car anymore. It's my daily driver. I hope to see some awesome runs though.

It's all heads up racing, and there are no ladders or anything at this time. For your $30, you basically get unlimited passes for about 4 hours, chat with the owners and tuners of some of the quickest Subarus in the country, and have a good all-around time, especially with all the little rivalries brewing. If anyone wants to match race somebody for a few bucks or whatever, be my guest.

In other words, it's not like going to a NIRA event, paying $50 bucks to race, get one or two time shots in, get knocked out in the first round and go home. You pay and make as many runs as you want.

I'll be there, not racing though (since I have sold all my parts and most likely by then the car will be gone too) BUT... I will be there none the less to witness the first time Al and Nate get next to each other on the line. I dont care who's car is faster on paper, because when it comes down to competing there is nothing like a determined driver to make his car do some unreal crap!!

Hmmm... tempting... I've got some time-off coming up when I move back to Georgia next month. May just have to work this in... How about a separate category for us automatics? Me, Rifts, RobPA... showdown?

That's the beauty of this event. It's more or less an "anything goes" type of drag day. You auto guys want to each throw $5 in a pot and have a bit of a gamblers race for fun, go for it!

I'd love to talk the owner of W&L Subaru into puting up some more cash for different groups and whatnot, but they already put up the $300 to hold the date, plus another $225 in prize money. Depending on the turnout, maybe we can do something else, like buy the pizza Saturday night!( don't hold your breath ).

Nice to see you guys possibly taking the trip. Should see some ultra quick times by September!

Actually, the beauty of the event is that we'll be running the same track, the same day, the same altitude, the same weather conditions. I run at 4100ft in (h)El Paso, so I experience the effects of adverse conditions first hand.

IOW, if we get a good crowd, this will be a "no excuses event". And no matter who wins, I'd love to meet all the other i-Clubbers who are pushing the envelope.

Cool, but we need are some more automatic contenders. What shall we race for? Let's say the winner buys dinner and/or beer.

For me, the best part will be the drive up: The Blue Ridge Parkway . I absolutely love the Shenandoah Valley, and did my graduate work in Emmitsburg Md. Beautiful part of the country except for all that white stuff in the Winter (an old Southern boy at heart ).

Hopefully it will all work out. I'll know my plans soon.

Sounds like a fun drive. I am currently working on a way to make it up there but it does not look good. That is right before the September 15 tax deadline and that is a no no time to take off from work. We will see though. It would be fun to meet all of you.

Oh, and did I forget to mention bragging rights?

I also say we include reaction times. That ought to nullify Rob's little giggle-juice advantage since he's never been to a real track (the bum).

Remember, Rob: yellow lights mean "wait", the green light means "go". So wait for the green, then floor it. Really. Trust me.

I'll be going up there with a new toy... don't know if it'll be dialed in completely by that day... but even in "rough" tune, it should own!

Should defineately give Rob's wet shot a run for his money.
