Default 02 2.5 na into 00?

Ok, I have to ask what is probably a stupid question. I did search, a lot, but I would like to hear from people who know before I pull the trigger on this.

We blew the motor in my wife's 2000 legacy, 2.5 auto tranny. I want to know if I can swap in a 2002 impreza engine from a 5 speed car. I understand that mechanically it's pretty straight forward, but I don't know about the electrical. Can I swap the intake manifold onto the newer motor and reuse all the existing sensors and electrical, or will I have to rewire anything? Are there any complications swapping a manual engine motor into an auto car? I'm looking for a straight up plug and play option.

Thanks in advance, chad

It will work you don't have to rewire anything. Just swap anything external that is different over like the intake manifolds and water pumps etc. Pay close attention to the cam and crank gears where they trigger the sensors and swap them if different.

Thanks for the input, that's what I was hoping to hear.

I used a 2002 impreza intake and wiring on a 2000 engine in a vanagon swap and i had to change the crank and drivers side cam gear. I was told the 2000 was a one off year and would not be a direct swap to 2002. I ended up using 2.2 crank triger and cam gear. 15,000 on swap on issues.

good luck
