Default Lower Mesh Grill and EZ Lip Installed

Hey guys, just wanted to show off my latest tinkering. Built the lower mesh grille and test fit the notorious "E-Z Lip," or in my case, a $6 garage door seal from Home Depot. I think it came out pretty sweet, and finishes off the clean, sporty look.

If anyone is interested, the lower mesh did involve cutting that black plastic portion out. It looks like a separate piece, but it is molded to the bumper. Attacked it with a dremel and then a couple grades of sand paper to smooth the cut lines. What do ya'll think??

Looks great nice job I was thinking of doing that with my grille. In the close up pic there's a outside piece of metal that runs along side of mesh. Was this home made or bought to fit?

Thanks!

The small black lip is what I left of the center piece, just trimmed flush and sanded smooth. The mesh is actually bonded to the (painted portion) of the bumper, and not that lip that looks like the frame of the grill. Optical illusion.

That lower mesh grill looks so sick! Would love to do something like that with mine but I don't really have the technical know-how to proceed. Awesome though!

That does look sick! I'm planning on doing a removable air dam to improve aerodynamics. I know of several hypermilled subi's around the area including a '13 STI that are seeing terrific MPG without losses in performance or overheating. There's aren't removable like my plans are either. That ez-lip turned out great too. I really need to get over to Homedepot.

Perhaps it's hypermiled. Anyways, making aero mods and using driving techniques for the purpose of achieving as high of gas mileage as possible. Driving techniques alone I was achieving 40.

Can you explain more specific directions for how you did the lower grill? It would be much appreciated. =) Also, did you purchase the sport mess grille for the upper or did you DIY?

Also, where did you get the lower mesh itself and the metal trim?
