Question Argh, Why is touchup paint so hard to find?

I noticed a few scratches on my WRX the last time I washed it, so I decided I would call around to some of the local dealers to see if I could get a bottle. I figured, while I'm at it, I'll get some for my '92 Legacy (which I have never been able to find).

This is where my frustration begins: No one has WR Blue touch up paint in stock! Either everyone bought it up or the dealers just don't stock it. Oh, and then when I give them the Legacy paint code, it's like I am speaking a different language because no one has ever heard of that code. Just wanted to vent my frustration to a few people that maybe can relate or help.

So, does anyone know where I can get touch up paint? The codes are:
02C - from my '02 WRX, World Rally Blue
285 - from my '92 Legacy, Teal Green Metallic (more dark green than teal, IMHO)

I do have to say Kudos to Annapolis Subaru, they were the only ones who offered to call SOA about the Legacy code and call me back on Monday.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help,
Paul

I got my car at Wilkins on Richie hwy. I got a couple chips in my paint, one on the left front fender and one on the right side of my roof. The damn rocks around here are terrible. So, I called the saleslady that sold me the car. She called me back and said they didn't have any but she put it on order. About 2 weeks later she called me back and told me to come get it. Well, it was free of charge..... but I think it was $7 and some change I think. Givem' a try...

Unhappy I tried, still no success

dj_noose: For some bizarre reason, Wilkins is not answering thier phone. I'll probably try again on Monday.

Dead-Preza: Paint-scratch has no record of the Legacy color either. Maybe I have the only code 285 Legacy on the road? They do have the WRX paint, but it looks darker than what's on the car, like they got Blue Ridge Pearl and World Rally Blue confused.

Thanks for your quick responses.

The search continues...

Post Thanks

dj_noose,

Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on that if I am at a meet anytime soon.

Annapolis isn't too far from me, and if I did not already have plans to see the Havre de Grace Fireworks this evening, I would probably come down.

Frederick Motor Co., in duh, Fredick, md got the WRB touch up paint for me, but I had get the paint code off the car, or they couldn't order it. Took about a week to get it.

I also got two bottles of Langka to flatten the paint blobs flush to the surface. Took a little practice but I got pretty good at it.

BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!!!! OMG This link is awesome. Forget dishing out $500+ for professional body work. Call me crazy, but I'm willing to give this a try. If a panel is already messed up, what do you got to lose?
