Bridgestone RE-11 or Michelin Pilot Sport PS2......... I own both, love them. The michelin is louder and handles poorly when wet. the RE-11 works well when wet and is quieter. Both are 91Y........ BUT both grip like crazy when warmed up and IMO perform similar. For me the RE-11 is more predictable and this is my second set, the michelins I bought to try out.

Not a fan of hankook..... so im not sure what too say. is cost an issue? I have a set of dunlop starspecs as well, hard and loud as hell, but sticky and are a great performer. If you can find a set of Falken RT-615's those are nice tires too..... I had them before on another car.

Nitto makes a good tire, The NT???? something. I know some guy in moddified used them on the ring.

Sorry, i used to work for bridgestone for 4 years and Im sort of a snob when it comes to tires LOL.

Im sure some of the lower tier products available are good, and perform very well.

Most UHP tires are not going to workin the snow, like you said. But some will perform very well in the rain, as long as you dont get into really low temps like 35 or below, or they will harden up like bricks.
If you want a good A/S tire, the RE-960 is a great tire, my wife had them on her car.

Uncle Scotty, the OP did not mention when he wants to drive on "the ring".

It seems that the track is not plowed during the winter.

So, fuji_production, when do you plan to drive in Germany?

....it sounds to me like he wants these tires specifically for use on the Ring and to drive "to & from". He also mentioned he will not be using these tires in the snow and will even try to avoid using them in the rain (which isn't necessarily a big deal with a max performance tire as Scotty mentioned).

It still does not anwer the question - when.

:-)

If he cares not about rain I have heard that Kumho XS is great; but it is dry tire only. Per Car&Driver its handling gets 'diabolical' in wet.

Krzys

PS fuji_production, is Federal available in your location?

If he's not going to run in the winter or rain and only needs them to get to and from the track, why just run slicks?

it is quite well known that 'the ring' may have real nice weather on one side and totally different weather on the other side....like rain

hence it may be a good idea for the OP to buy a tire that can handle wet/rain

Dry only tires would make his wet run that more interesting.

Federal are not bad, I just have no experince with them. I was trying to give the OP some ideas of different experinces I have had with RE-11 and PS2.

Refering too? Max summer tires or Max performance tires? I run my RE-11 with better results in the rain then the starspecs (which IMO are played out) and the PS2 seem to have less grip. But I dont go racing around in the rain. I think the OP needs to provide a little more information about what he wants to do exactly, his budget etc.

my bridgestone hp50's work great in the rain and have plenty of traction on dry pavement, sandy beaches, and most importantly, gravel back roads

Depending on price concerns and distance from the track, I'd imagine (based on the info he's given us) DOT R-Comps would be ideal.

Nitto Nt01 / Federal 595RSR /Toyo RA1/R888 maybe?
