Why would you troll a thread just to be a dick?

My life is great, but that's not what this thread is about. I obviously rallied it pretty hard, it was bound to happen eventually. It was clearly my own fault, and I accepted that before it even happened. That's not the case with people picking them up with cracks from the dealer. You're not contributing to the thread or the community, so why post at all?

I used a bondo bumper crack repair kit from Autozone. It actually worked great and I don't think the crack will get any bigger. It's a mesh screen, two part epoxy and scrapper. Dried up hard as a rock. I might get some more of this stuff and just reinforce the whole thing. |

Sheesh are these cars built that cheap...I thought I was buying one and it was going to be a good quality built car..now seeing how weak the bumper is, all the rattles and the whole ringland STI issue. doesnt seem like they are very well built cars..hell my POS work car cavalier i got stuck in snow 2years ago parking and I had a bobcat push me out by my rear bumper and you cant even tell anything was there..6months ago some guy rear ended me at about 5mph and once again not a scratch..so if this piece of crap can take that then why is subaru making such cheap ass parts for a car that is in the 26-40grand price range. I sure hope adding a front lip will help

I added a front lip and a 3m clear bra before the car left the lot and I've never had an issue. I have also never hit anything. So from Dec to today through our Syracuse winter I have no cracks and one slight rock chip on the passenger A pillar. All of that with heavy highway commuting and a fair amount of daily around town driving/parking. I'm overly pleased at this point.

yea i hand washed my 2011 WRX today and just using a washing mitt and rubbing the whole car down you can easily feel how cheap the front end is.
i was barley using any pressure and it was just bending and moving all over the place o well |

Yeah, I was a little freaked out at that myself, the front bumper flexs like its not attached correctly or something. Definitely a very flimsy part.

When you fix cracks in plastic you should drill a pin hole at end of crack. The pin hole will stop crack from spreading.

That's the lip i purchased. For the price it's right on, meaning you're not getting anything spectacular, but it fits or will with slight modification. Drill your own holes, paint was cracking and it was bent out of shape when I received it. Drilled my own holes, repainted it and hit it with the heat gun to mold it into shape. All in all it was worth the prices.

i'm happy enough with that lip. I never put a lip on any of my cars before, but after seeing all the complaints I picked this one up, just to serve as protection, not for the look of it. I was able to even mount it "back" a little bit so you can't really see it from the front. So far, so good.
motown, relax, you don't need to bump it so much, your question will get answered. |

joined the club this week. Same spot as everyone else, less than 5 mph into a steep driveway. It didn't appear to me as though it would scrape, but I was wrong.

Meh I dunno if it is even worth replacing a bumper cover? It seems like several dozen people have had this issue in year 1, you may drive more carefully next time resulting in possibly a 2 year interval on the next replacement? I'm rockin silicone sealant.
