Post All Southeast Members Please Read...

Hello all! In case you didn't know, Kelly Subaru in Chattanooga, Tennessee is, number one, an awesome dealership, and number two, starting a Southeast Subaru Club for us!!! I received this e-mail today, and wanted to pass it along to everyone. I highly encourage you to respond to Marcus and let him know of your love for the Subaru automobile, and your interest in the club. The more interest you show, the more they will do for us. Thanks for listening, and here is the e-mail I received...

I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Marcus
Perry-Hunter and I am the District Parts and Service Manager for Western
Tennessee, Alabama and the Panhandle of Florida. I will be assist Alfred
Odister of Kelly Subaru in the formation and operation of the Southeast
Subaru Club.

Our first official get together and information gathering session will be at
the World Rally Championship event in Chattanooga, TN March 15-17. Kelly
Subaru will have a hospitality tent available at the Big Frog Outdoor Center
(Treehouse Village), near Benton, TN. We will have various giveaways and
Subaru's on display, possibly the WRX.

Our first order of business is to have name tags printed and available for
you at the event. Please respond back to this email with you name as you
would like it to appear on your name tag.

Please respond back no later than Monday, March 12.

I unfortunately will not be able to attend the WRC in Chattanooga, but look
forward to meeting and assisting you in the future. Please discuss any
ideas or suggestions for the club with Alfred at the event. Any questions,
please contact Alfred Odister or myself.

Initial plans/ideas
-web site
-monthly or quarterly meeting
-parts warehouse tour (Atlanta)

Thank you

WRC event, eh? It's a shame Burns, Makkinen, McRae, etc. aren't gonna be here. They're missing out on POINTS!

FIA rules, yes. International entries, yes. WRC? I thought WRC was only Group A8.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Otherwise, I'm gonna enjoy meeting everyone at the rally.

Yeah, he's either a bit misinformed, or a little overinformed! This is not a WRC event, however, this venue is a future possiblity for the WRC. But at least we have another dealership wanting to promote their cars, not just their sales! I'll be there!

What I find most interesting is that he says that they <u>might</u> have a WRX there.

Of course, I emailed him my information as well.I bet he's off to Arizona instead of the rally as well.

I'm glad that Kelly got the support from SOA on the club. They were mentioning that they would be starting the club when I was over there looking at the WRX.

Now, all they need to do is actually receive my WRX next week, and I'll be a happy camper.

hehe... WRC, yea they have been making the mistake of saying it is a FIA sactioned event. but i do wish that all the big dogs from the FIA were competing. man that would be awesome. the thing i heard about this pro-rally is that these trails they are running are old logging trails; really twisty and turny not many straight shots for top speed. but it still should be cool to spectate. hope to see all of you there.

not old logging trails per se, but forest service roads and actual "state routes"

grimlock and i went and drove part of the course 2 weekends ago.

FIA is cool

Jason,

I received this e-mail as well, and I've replied. I cannot make the Chattanooga Rally, but I stated I was interested in some meets.

You know, it would be great if we could get some support from them for the "Subaru Invitational" autocross in Charlotte on the weekend of April 14th & 15th. It would be great if some of you guy's could be there as well!

KuyaKRS, the special stage roads are pretty smooth. No huge potholes or anything, just what you'd expect for a well-maintained dirt/gravel road. Some of the transit stages are pretty bumpy though. I had to be careful not to rip the bumper cover off a couple of times.

This was also the trip where I was finally able to exceed a posted speed limit by six times. There was a gravel hump in the paved road leading to the first and second stages with a posted 10mph caution sign. 60 was no problem for the mighty RS. Also the first time I ever saw a 5mph curve. It's on the Indian Creek stage, this nasty ascending hairpin on clay. That's gonna be a fun spot for the drivers, but there won't be a spectator spot anywhere on Indian Creek. Well, not an OFFICIAL spot.

The only place I really got any air was on the Baker Valley transit stage with all the nasty bumps. Oh, and the gravel hump. We only saw 3-4 of the stage roads, though. There are lots of decreasing-radius hairpins though.

I don't forsee any "air" in this race. Remember, this is not a WRC type event. we won't be seeing speeds quite as high as those in Monte Carlo or Corsica might.

yes they are professional drivers but it is like watching a AA baseball team as opposed to watching a World Series winning team.
