Exclamation My baby breaks her own record...

This is what I wrote on my local board:

Quote:
Well, since Juiced_50's car is getting a gasket repaired, I borrowed his brand new MBC made by Boostvalve. At first it looked VERY crude, NOTHING like the TurboXS HPMBC or others. Looked like a normal Joe Schmoe made it with CT parts hehehe.

Installation was more than easy, it was stupid! Setting it was a bit of a headache because the setting method is pretty crude... so I had to get in/out of the car at least 5 times and after that it was just too ot to touch anymore so I was stuck at 14.5PSI (stock is 13PSI) The air is VERY good, the car feels extremely responsive boost comes on INSTANTLY, but the fatal part-throttle full boost does me in so I have to watch my throttle position or I'll melt something...

Anyways, we go to the movies, 4 people in the car and I'm just playing around and I definitely feel the car almost being as strong as with me only in it... hhhhmmmm

After the movie, the car is cold so I can adjust it, I leave and test it out and I boost just a tad over 16PSI with NO spikes(my goal was ~15.5) So it's not bad, car feel like a beast so I just KNOW I gotta crack the G-Tech out tonight!

After dropping everybody off and I'm alone in the car, it's just crazy, I can actually feel some torque steer in first gear only (never did that happen before) my eyes widen and my ego starts to laugh like a bad case of the Monty Burns!

I did 4 passes JUST TO MAKE SURE I WASN'T DREAMING!

Call BS if you like, this little toy has been extremely good to me and I believe the actual 1/4 mile being somewhat accurate but the MPH always seems a bit high.

Here they are:
13.67@102.4
13.87@101.1
13.89@100.9
13.92@100.5

O M G... I actually call BS on my first run 'cause that don't make sense at all although it DID feel like my best pass, I won't take it into account. the 3 other passes are very consistent and they drop because they were back to back so I'm guessing some heatsoak in action here. I did them about 20 minutes ago so it's very cool outside, VERY.

WRX + homemade CAI + MBC @ 16PSI = DAMN.

I remember a lot of people claiming those speeds on i-club and to tell you the truth, I was one of the guys calling bull**** on them... flat 14's ok, but 13.8????? That's over .5 difference.

The real difference? Not the actual PSI boost, not that it didn't help, but the INSTANT boost instead of waiting 2-3 seconds for full boost made the difference IMO.

Sorry for the huge post, but I just had to share, tomorrow if it's as nice outside, I'll actually take god damn pictures of it all! I just wish I could of seen the 0-60 times But it's all good with me
Without the MBC I was ALWAYS hitting 14.3 on decently hot days (25-30 degree days)

I just dunno what to think, I've seen people posting times like these here and I even thought it was BS, but now I just HAVE to believe them... ~13.9 with a 50$ MBC is just nuts for stock WRX, but I'm not complaining... BTW, I'm at 80ft elevation here so it's all good!

Thumbs up

Thats right on man. I ran 14.4 @92 stock and 13.5@97 with an MBC and a drop in filter.

Like you said the mph is a bit off, but I bet the ET's are close.

I used to make runs in my T-T/A with a g-tech in it (at the track)and it was fairly close but the mph was off quite a bit iirc.

Next stop, local dragway

Right on! It's also only 20 minutes from where I live!! I think I read somewhere (in the G-Tech manual if I remember) that dragstrips calculate your final trap in the last 60 feet or meters or something but the G-Tech calculates until the last inch... if it's true, then I guess it would explain why the MPH is always higher on a G-Tech.

Yup. At the new IDRC/NHRA sanctioned track I would run (back in mbc days) 13.8@96.X over and over. When I went to the REALLY old hillbilly track, I would run 13.8@100mph. I totally didn't believe those times.

Inaccurate tracks are fairly common. Good time though.

I ran 14.2@95 (actually, it was 94.x I think) stock btw.
