I'm going to be painting my 02 Wrx and sellin it finally, and plan on financing a 08+ Sti hatch. Do you guys like it? Any pros/cons? And also is there a difference in exterior/interior between 08-13 sti hatch? Let me know.. Thanks

'08 there was Aspen White available.
'10+ has the red stitching on the seats.
'11+ has the darker trim.
'11+ has different front bumper and slightly wider front fenders to match the new front bumper.
'12+ comes with chrome headlights, not blacked out.

And I'm not sure what year adapted the heated seats.

STI hatch doesn't have sunroof as an option.

That's the best to my knowledge.

I'd go with a 2011 if you can find it. It's got the red stitching, blacked out headlights and possibly the heated seats. Although that was the year of the tsunami (if memory serves correctly), so I think production was down.

I've got a 2011 WRX and love it. Cons are lower mpg (big deal), not alot of places to stash little things (again, big deal), and the oem stereo sucks.
Pros, all the reasons you want the car lol

Heated seats were available in all the STI premiums iirc, but yeah Qwak pretty much got it

? To my knowledge the finders are exactly the same.
And I'm pretty sure at least in 2011 they were only available in the limited trim, which includes the sunroof.
Also 2011+ have slightly stiffer suspension.

The latest Nav ('12+ I believe) also has a greatly improved sound over the stock non-nav head unit. I haven't heard the previous Nav unit sound so can't comment on that.

I'm not 100% positive, but I thought I remember reading someone doing a front bumper swap '08-'10 -> '11+, that the fenders didn't match completely. Could be wrong.

I'm pretty confident that 08+ STI hatch has never been offered with a sunroof (in the USA).

The STI limited definitely does have a moonroof. I just looked it up on the subaru site

^That's only available in a sedan. Unless they changed it for 2012/2013

Is there a wagon thread for 02-07 or even 06/07?

Yeah there is, supposedly (before my time here) when the 3rd gens came out and started posting in there, several people got their panties in a bunch about what defines wagons vs hatchbacks. This separate thread was created so everyone would shut up.

According to what I've read.

They might be stock. It looks like just the reflections of the inside of the garage.

Thanks for the info fellas I appreciate it.. So just the difference is red stiching which is why they invented sharpie markers lol, speakers I have my own, and what else, just a little wider? Is it a big difference in width or like a little different? I was thinking about a Wrx cuz of the sunroof but I wanna make the right decision this time for such a huge price lol

08-10 WRX vs 11+ WRX is a major difference in width. iirc its something like 1.5"?

The only things that make me wish I'd gotten an sti instead of my wrx are brembos (currently swapping), DCCD (Theres apparently a good add-on that can be done) and 6spd (Plans to swap later).

Basically if youre debating between wrx and sti, you have to look at the things you will mod anyways, remove them from the equation, and then ask yourself if what differences are left are worth the price

Anyone know if the headunit wiring from an 08 impreza 2.5i (Non-Nav) would be the same and be plug n' play to a 13 wrx Non-Nav. headunit?

Thanks

Depending on where you are getting the car from, the 2011+ sti most definitely has a sunroof as an option. I have the "sportech package" which offers hid lights, sunroof, and heated seats, etc. It is also called the limited package elsewhere.

For 2013 only the STI limited has a sunroof in the US according to the website, they all come with HIDs.

For some reason Canada can get a sunroof on the STI hatch but the US can't

at least we get BBS'

Yea trust me, I made the mistake with my bugeye over a Sti because I was too dumb and anxious to have my first car, and regret all that money dumped for repairs and whatever. To me it's stupid to go from one Wrx to another Wrx only because the option of a hatch with a sunroof, big woop. And doing conversions is too much of a hassle between work and it being my daily driver

I hate to get so caught up on the sunroof, but that's something you can't add aftermarket. So, if you must have a sunroof, and you're in the states, you better stick with a WRX. If you're in Canada or somewhere else, they offer the STI hatch with a sunroof.
Brembos can be swapped. HIDs can be retrofitted or if you get a WRX Limited, you got them stock.
I actually prefer the gearing of the WRX of the STI to boot. But to each their own.

(And this is why I have a WRX hatch instead of an STI...sunroof, heated seats and gearing).

I actually emailed manfredi auto in staten island new York, and they wrote back I can have it special ordered but it would take 6-8 weeks. He's also a rip off so I bet that "special order" is about 5,000$ lol. The whole not having a sunroof won't kill me but I've always wanted one. I guess I can live with out it
