There really isn't a cheap option with swaps.

Probably the least expensive would be to find an '02 WRX EJ205 with transmission and rear diff. You also need all of the electrical harness and the ECU (or an aftermarket ECU).

Give east coast swappers a call, they can help you out.

Wrong forum BTW. There is a conversions forum that contains everything about swaps.

best bang for your buck in the end is getting a good deal on a totalled donor car weather it be a WRX or STI. If you buy parts from here and there you will get nickle and dimed to death IMO at least.

I'm in the middle of swapping a jdm wrx into my 97 ob biggest pain so far is pulling the dash out down to the firewall to remove the harness. RiteWire is making my life easier in the harness merge. So far it's just like leggo.

Any more info on this? Did you need help with the merge because the swap is out of a gd model, not a gc/gm? I was searching and saw that a v3-v6 jdm swap only needed extended on the harness behind the dash. Once it was lengthened, it would plug in to everything?

I sent my wires off to RiteWire (they sorta part of east coast swappers). the ECU's are totally different (plug wise) between the 97 leggy and the 97 JDM WRX donor, so I'm letting them do that part. As mentioned the dash is a pain, not hard, just tedious, I changed my crossmember to an STI one, turns out (or so I'm told) IF I had got a pre 05 crossmember my steering rack from my leggy would have bolted up, however I got an 05 and that meant changing the rack and adapting my steering shaft to teh STI rack, it's not all bad though, I end up with a quicker ratio rack. Cooling wise I'm going to try with my stock leggy rad (I'm in Alberta it never gets that hot here, so maybe I wont have heat problems)... just add the fitting for the extra plumbing... anyway so far so good.. (easy to say since it's not all back together yet).. lemme know if you want any pics, or updates, I can do that..

sorry I posted a bit late in your thread there CBXJ, click for link, but if they still have your wiring make sure to be asking a ton of questions and make sure you are getting what you ask and pay for.
