Default Do you follow state window tint laws?

Hi guys

I was thinking about getting my windows tinted earlier today. Made a few phone calls around town seeing what shops had to offer. All sounded good until I looked at NY's laws for tinted windows.

The legal limit in this state is 70%...and my factory windows(completely see through) are already 70%...

What are the chances you'd get pulled over for having a illegal tint? 9/10? 2/10? Anyone tint outside of the states limitations and get around daily with no issues?

I don't really want to blow $200 on a tint job only to have it taken off when a cop sees it.

just like warranty, if you care about it at all, don't do it.

Is that the law for all windows? In CA the driver and passenger is 70% but rear windows and rear windshield has no limit.

Whatever, I went with 20% in New York. If I get a ticket so be it. 16000 on this new car and no tickets or stops. I drive pretty tame so I also don't give someone a reason to stop me.

And I gotta be honest, all the times I've been pulled over in my life I've never once received a tint ticket. If your driving like an asshat then yes the police officer may be more likely to write you a book of infractions.

Generally, they will ticket you for something else and throw the tint on top of it. Here in FL, the law is 30% on the front windows. I was pulled over for a blown license plate light bulb years ago and was given the choice of removing my 20% tint in front of the cop or getting a ticket. YMMV.

here in Ny the back window and rear passenger windows can be tinted dark as you want. driver and front passenger is 70%(light pass through, so 30%tint). Personally, I had 30% tint in the past and have never gotten a ticket.

I drive with a radar detector...so I look like a good citizen when the cops see me. My previous cars were incognito Volvo 850T, Volvo 920. My BRZ got enough attention without tint so I never put it on.

Now I drive an Impreza 2.0 with 35% + radar detector

We cannot tell you if/when/how often you'd be pulled over and/or ticketed.

Per Trevor2.0 you can have 30% tint on the front, so it appears you misread or misinterpreted the law.

Take the risk or don't, the internet cannot help you.
