Default 2011 Geneva Motor Show Thread

Quote:
Subaru, a company whose reputation is built around a symmetrical all-wheel drive system, will be bringing a new concept car to March’s 2011 Geneva Motor Show, one with a rear wheel drive layout.

The latest revelation is no big surprise as we’ve known Subaru has been working on a new rear-wheel drive sports car with Toyota for some time now.

We’ve already seen plenty of Toyota’s version of the new sports car following the debut of the 2009 Toyota FT-86 Concept, but at the upcoming Geneva event we’ll finally get a taste of what Subaru has in store for its own new sports car.

The new concept will be called the 2011 Subaru Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car Technology Concept and come powered by an engine with the automaker’s trademark horizontally-opposed ‘boxer’ design. Subaru explains that the concept was designed to show how it plans to integrate its boxer engine expertise in a rear-wheel drive vehicle.

The 2011 Geneva Motor Show is still more than a month away but in the meantime you can see spy shots of a test-mule for the new joint sports car from Toyota and Subaru by clicking here.

Pictured above is the grille from last November’s 2010 Subaru Impreza Concept, a preview of the automaker’s new design language as well as its next-generation Impreza.
