Default 2015 WRX aftermarket pushbutton start/keyless

One of the most common complaints of the 2015 WRX, me being on the tallest soap box lol, is the lack at a minimum of push button start let alone keyless entry.

Subaru decided that they would only allow that option on the HIGHEST trim, plus...it's attached to a VERY EXPENSIVE option group on top of that.

The rational is obviously a marketing/accounting ploy to move people into a higher transaction sales price no matter how absurd given the current market that has made pushbutton start a standard in many cars.

Superficially this feature appears as a minor grip, until you personally experience how useful this feature is (I did in my IS350), but I thought I'd start a thread/poll to discuss this topic but also find a solution to it.

I included a poll to see what the interest looks like and I plan on contacting any company I can find to request this.

The previous generation had some options with this, sadly I don't know how successful, that look high end and well thought out:

Amazon.com: EasyGO AM-STI-37J Smart Key Remote Start and Alarm System with Satin White Pearl Driver's Door Handle for Subaru WRX STI: AutomotiveAmazon.com: EasyGO AM-STI-37J Smart Key Remote Start and Alarm System with Satin White Pearl Driver's Door Handle for Subaru WRX STI: Automotive

Personally, I'm thinking maybe auto up/down windows would be another nice touch to add to a package like this.

I know the 2015 is barely out the gates but the sooner there is a solution the better. IMO

I feel ya on that one - i just went for it and bought the whole package to get the leather interior and the keyless start. since i wanted the limited package anyway (for the leather, LED headlights, etc) and had considered leaving out only the nav because it sucks (i ended up going for it anyway), it was not as big a jump for me.

but i do agree 100% - that should be standard on all but the base cars. if a 5 year old nissan sentra has this, there's really no excuse

Exactly quantum13 and vision.dynamix, sadly I just didn't have the money to push up another 3K to get that specific option that I wanted. I'm still mad at Subaru for pulling that type of garbage move....but I regress...lol.

I already contacted by email that company to see if they plan to make a product like the one I listed. I'm thinking that because it's at least an option it might be easier to make this happen.

If I remember right with my 2011 WRX, it was never an option on the previous generation right? STI or WRX?

Anyway, it's good that it is an option at least because to cover the key hole all we would need to do is order this trim panel:

Keyless remote start comes in handy, especially at night. Even though that key ring glows, it is sometimes really hard to try and aim and push the key in. I always try not to scratch the key ignition, but its inevitable.

I found this one also but it's not as "clean" as the other system:

Regardless, I might contact them also. It's all hands on deck lol...

UPDATE:

I received this response:

"At the current time, I have not been given any information in regards to when the 2015 WRX kit will be available. As soon as this information is updated, I will inform you. Sorry for the delay in response.

Julian P
Product Support Manager
Easy Go Smart Key Systems"

So...as expected we will be waiting on this but I did reply in hopes to get more of a "yes we will but not yet" or "we have no plans to do it at this time" which would be a lot worse.

For those who have voted so far, it does not hurt to send them an email to make sure they see we are all seriously interested in this. Just saying...

Now we are talking....he replied:

"I’m pretty sure there will be an application in the near future. I will actually try to get a definite answer for you. It may be next week. The guy I need to ask is having a baby, soon as he gets back I will def find out for you."

So, this is the positive response I was waiting for. Hopefully it will come out before the year is out.

IT HAS BEEN DONE! Apparently...

I don't have all the details, but fellow forum member shatty posted:

Also I have to hold down the button instead of a momentary push because the wire is not connected.

Can the actual button be replaced?

Example, I am getting it installed from factory in my 2015 sti base - can the actual button be replaced with the JDM button that says STI?

^Probably, but I'm more dreamer than technician. Send them an email to check on that. I'm glad SMY has provided a clean system like this and as soon as I learn more this will be a require upgrade for me. My IS350 spoiled me with this feature and I have missed it since.

Another update on the SMY system. The video is taking forever to load but it appears the keyless remote is also better than the previous generation.

Got it done on my 15 Sti....Advanced Key System Here are some videos...
http://mail.lovosystemsny.com/files/IMG_2569.MOV
http://mail.lovosystemsny.com/files/IMG_2570.MOV

Got it from SMY Performance with the red JDM STi button. System works great!!!! Cheap and effective!! It does what I want it to do and more. Comes with remote start also. You can add the window module so that when you lock you car, the system will close your windows and sunroof. Had 2 problems installing it, locating the tach wire and correct placement of the front antenna. Instead of the tach wire which they changed from the previous model, the installer used the cam shaft wire he told me. Also the front antenna was placed behind a panel between the door and the dash. I didn't wanna get the factory unit because that meant getting the factory nav which I had every intention of replacing with my Pioneer Z150 from my previous car. It was just a waste of money. Installation cost me $350 with the immobilizer bypass. Go on SMYs website and take a look.

You can replace the stock p2s button with the red STi one. Thats what the button is meant for. That red button comes on the Japanese versions from what I hear.
