Default Will a jdm ver 6 sti ra engine pass emissions?

It does not have to pass visual just the sniff test. I am going to put it in a 98L Thanks.

Sure, just don't ask me what it will take to make it do so.

Just don't forget to put in a new highflow cat or get an exaust with one. Make sure to get the car nice and hot before testing as Cats don't work cold, and the cat will be a LONG way from the heads.

Try a little Alky in the tank for the test. (basicly "no fail" emissions use this).

Why would I have to replace the cat? Ralispec is going to do the swap. They said that the would make me a custom Turbo back for it. Other than that I will have the stock L exhaust but I dont think that I want to do that. Any opinions on how to set up the exhaust to Pass.

Don't see why it wouldn't, I THINK Japan has tough emission laws anyways so I don't see why It wouldn't pass.

Tou were talking about the L cat, Never Mind why to reblace the cat. But should I go with a ralispec exhaust or just buy a cat back and a highflow cat. Or just use a 96 ra turbo back?

Well, just make SURE rallispec KNOWS that you are going to have it emissions tested and that they put a cat in thier exaust system.

That said this reminds me that I need to go get a couple of flanges made so i can do my street legal exaust.

but japan also has better gas then us which causes the car to run cleaner over there, they run dirty over here, i have seen JDM motors pass the IM240 dyno test with a new cat and they BARELY pass on 93 octane but regardless they do pass.

japan's strict emission laws mandate the replacement of motors to keep emissions down rather than passing smog checks.

I'll let you know.. I'll be picking up my heavily modified STi V swap from Rallispec soon, just in time for inspection it seems

Although my mechanic doesn't think it will even be an issue.. after all, he managed to get some of the first poorly turbo'd RS's in my area to pass emissions with flying colors
