I took this and and apart yesterday (I would not recomend doing this as the part can break) to see if the SUBARU letters could be removed. In short, the letters are painted silver from the inside and would have to be sanded out. Even if you were to do this you would still have the indentations of the letters.
Does anyone know of a OEM fit part that does not have the SUBARU lettering accross the back. Thinking about painting it also I covered the part with black tape to see if it might look good on my black car. I do not recomend this either... it looked ok but just didn't look right. I'm basically looking for a cleaner look on the rear of the car. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated Thanks

- trying to understand what you want here...
are you saying you want a new trunk ?? or you want something to hide/go over the subaru letters... how did you remove the letters exactly ??? by the way you explain it... (the way i read it ) it looks like you just pulled the heck out of the poor guys and they left a dent or some sort of mark on the trunk ... did you heat them up a bit and then pull on them ? please explain what you need |

I can see that since you have an Impreza (what are you doing in this forum) you wouldnt understand.
The legacy has the lettering behind a plastic peice, an "extension" of the tail lights. For your badges you could most likely remove them VERY easy with no trace left behind. Use some dental floss, seriously. jacksonww: I dont know if yours is showing age or not yet but on mine the black paint on both front and rear windsheild wiper arms was fading or missing. Last night I got some BBQ paint from home depot (high heat, rust prevention, no gloss satin) and repainted all my wiper arms. LOOKS GREAT. Cant beleive how much cleaner the back looks Last edited by ciper; 07-09-2002 at 02:48 PM. |

jacksonww - I painted out the middle part on my trunk and the two light on the trunk too. I think it looks great. Makes the rear of the car look totally different. here is a link to the thread. If it dont work do a search for "Pictures of jrlegac8195's painted rear valence. Sweet!" posted by HIHO.

Since you have a black car, buy some VHT Nightshades and paint the Red and Amber Stuff Black, leave the Back-up lights white, it looks GREAT!
I photoshopped pictures of my dads 99' BDP Legacy GT like this. Or just paint the center section with the black and it won't even exsist anymore ![]() Also, you can use Red Transparent hobby paint to cover everything (minus the reverse lights) The all red looks good, and it will probably cover the "SUBARU" Fairly well. As for you "ciper" my mad Subaru skills will destroy your small knowledge of only Legacy skills, NINJA STYLE! Grasshopper Bry. Last edited by BrysImpreza; 07-10-2002 at 01:56 PM. |

Pardon my Photoshopping abilities, I've only had 1 cup of coffee and I know this came out looking like Dookie, but this will give you an idea.
Black out the center section with VHT Nightshades Turn the Amber signal Red with Testors Candy Apple Red Transparent Spray Paint Looks Tight to me ![]() |

Great idea's. Let's just hope I can get the paint to stick!I'm still having trouble with paint sticking on my mesh grill instert(eurogrills.com). I took the whole grill out and wired the euro grill in from the back and painted the whole thing (crome and all) black. Looks great when it doesn't get a rock or bug chip in it. |
