Mustang GT 5.0 or BOSS in black or kona blue. I could afford it but it is so unpractical for me.

Acura NSX.

Everytime it crosses my mind Im reminded how little car I'm getting for the cost. This is one time a car holding its value is a bad thing.

This. That car has been on my list for like 20 years.

One day, it will be mine. Maybe. Somehow I'd have to work out a timeshare deal with my brother so that it would be off-the-books as far as the wife is concerned.

Stop being afraid of an M3...or any other 3 series for that matter.

Not bad at all. Some known problem areas, but not horrible at all.

Edit:

I say that having forgot that JUST THIS MORNING, I was popping the hood of mine, in the rain at 5:30 swapping out a coil pack that had apparently decide to **** the bed over night.

When you leave the engine cover off, it only takes 15 seconds to find the failed coil and pop the new one in.

I have, however, only been replacing these known defective coils as they fail, rather than changing them out all at once like any other reasonable person would have done long ago.

E46 M3 or E39 M5. Currently I can only have 1 car. My biggest concern is the salty winters up here, I would honestly feel bad driving either through the winter. I'm also slightly scared of the maintenance costs, especially for a daily. Maybe someday when I can afford a second car and a place to store a second car I will own an M.

I would purchase a challenger immediately if I thought it wouldn't fall apart after only a few years. Past experience with American cars has left a bad taste in my mouth

Any of the Subaru WRX's. The newer ones (04+) don't interest me and the extreme likely hood of of any used WRX having been beat to **** scare me away from the ones I do like.

VW Corrado, nice ones are on the pricey but not unobtainable side but DD'ing a car of that vintage with a VW badge... I've done that twice already in my life and I'd rather not pay that kind of cash to do it again.

E30 BMW, I want one so ridiculously bad but once again, knowing that I'll always be working on it makes it a lot less attractive when I put it in realistic terms.
Like to add any Audi to this list, Really want an A/S4 Avant or an AllRoad or even A/S6 Avant but the fuel economy and reliability concerns... I really hate HAVING to work on a car, because inevitably the HAVE to comes up at the worst possible time.

I've owned an 04 STi, and the Mustang is a much better car.

My votes are for Toyota 4Runner Trail, or Audi Q5.

I've been driving my Mustang for the past couple weeks while my wagon is on jack stands. It has been painful seeing how much salt has been collecting on the car. It's outside though so it's been staying cold and hopefully not rusting.

BMW e39 M5: see above
VW MKV/VI GTI/R32/R20: I'm not putting up with that sort of unreliability... again. Still miss my MKV GTI, though.
Honda S2000: getting hard to find non-ragged out ones without spending a lot of money.
Toyota FJ40: other's are willing to pay more than I am for a vehicle that will struggle at interstate speeds.
Toyota Land Cruiser (last 15 years): They all ask ridiculous prices or have 170k miles on them. Plus, I'd want to drive them cross country and 15 mpg isn't my idea of fun.
Ford Mustang (66/67ish): Can't see myself spending money like that on a pure toy.

Basically, I could buy any of the above listed cars with the cash laying in my savings, but they would all be short term ownership vehicles and it'd turn into a terrible waste of money.... or I'd get attached to it and it would become a massive money pit that I'd never willingly drag myself out of.
I'm very likely looking at an e36 this weekend.
