Default Grimmspeed install

Thx for the good news that you'll review the instructions for the later model STIs. When you complete it I'm sure people on this thread would be glad to review it and comment back to you in order to get real user feedback.

Thx again for taking the time to address this topic.

By the way, the fit (once installed) and finish of the product is very good, I like it

I received mine yesterday from rallysportdirect. I guess this is gonna be a tough install from all that I'm reading.

It's not too complicated just very tight. Get as much out of the way as possible and use lots of patience! We've seen it done in under an hour

Lol. She can also make a sandwich and get you a beer
Seriously though, anyone who is worried about the install, take your time. Read the instructions, watch YouTube videos, and search on here. Once installed, you will be very happy you made the decision to go with Grimmspeed

Default Install

I agree, the install on the WRX is not bad, STI much slower and more intricate assembly....but take your time and it will go together. After I installed mine a few days ago I went back to see how I could improve the final fitment of the fuel lines on my 2011 STI. I had originally followed the Grimmspeed instructions to reverse the fuel line plastic mounting clip but just couldn't get the routing to work. I had tie-wrapped it but felt uncomfortable with that as a long term fix. Went back and put the oem plastic clip in the original factory position but bent it back towards the fender. After loosening some lines/fittings and wiggling the hoses to realign the assemblies with the bracket/clip, I got it to fit much better. The only issue was that the line with the large flat flange attached to it could contact the new Grimmspeed brace...but just the head of the cap screw would move around enough to hit the brace. I solved that problem by cutting off 1/4" ring off a 3/8" vacuum hose and slipping it over the head of the cap screw. Voila, now it it no longer contacts the brace and the whole fuel line assembly fits nearly like stock.

So let me throw my 2 cents in on this one. The install is not complicated whatsoever. For the first time in my life, my man hands were too much for the job. I enlisted the help of my wife (not small, but tiny hands) to get the top left bolt started. Keep a telescoping magnet (or something of that nature) on hand for all of the parts that you end up dropping down onto the chassis.

Slightly noticeable feel. Not mind blowing. I imagine track days and autox will have me appreciating this mod even more. If you aren't into either of those, spend your blood, sweat, tears and money on something else you've been considering.

Is it more/same/less pain to install compared to a 06 WRX?

(For a 2011 WRX)

Default My review of GrimmSpeed master cylinder brace for my 2011 WRX

Are the spot welds on the firewall a problem for the 13' and 14' wrx as well? When I look up the master cylinder brace online, the applicable years it lists for are 08' to 12'.

Yes welds are an issue thru 14. The brace fits 08-14.
