Default Gear changing..

never thought to ask but...

i always hit the rev limit JUST at the beggining of the end of the 1/4 so i lose a lot of time trying to chnage into 5th which i never get in anyways cause i miss it... i tried even changing each gear earlier and still was just done letting the clutch out and the 1/4 was done... you know wha i mean? i'm in neutral for the last second or two trying to make these huge throws... any thoughts..

have you ever thought of an aftermarket ecu? maybe a link? hehe. i'm looking at the link right now. you can bump your rev limit a bit higher. problem is getting the damn thing tuned.

what about that guy in calgary you were telling me about. i think his name is Reg or something like that. maybe he can do something with our ecu's. here's his website: http://www.monsterhorsepower.com/

I've heard some pretty amazing things about this guy, but be prepared to bring some cash.

Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?

That would be Reg Reimer. The supra that he built was dynoed at 750hp on pump gas, thats with the stock block and heads. His car was 4th at One Lap a couple of years ago. I was talking to him at WOW a couple of years ago, he told me to bring $10k by his shop and he'd have me flying low

That would net you taller gearing yes. Only problem then is you have to worry about rubbing when you are driving the car normally.

Well I do have the Link ECU, I live in Edmonton, and I've tuned it myself. Services are negotiable

You'll need a wide-band o2 sensor to get proper air/fuel ratios. The stock o2 sensor is narrowband and inaccurate for tuning purposes.

Let me know if you need info. The Link rocks (once you get the bugs worked out).

I met him briefly at the car show in Calgary earlier this spring. Very knowledgable, and willing to work on Subaru's, but he mostly tunes Toyota and BMW. He thought the Subies were alright, but the other two brands made much stronger engines for reliably handling high horsepower.
