well its a 02 wagon and it has a few mods done to it.
16g turbo upgrade larger exhaust downpipe with catback other then that its mostly stock. Now I guess the guy who put the turbo in didnt install the oil return line off the turbo properly so it was blocked and it was flooding the turbo with oil and dumping it out the exhaust. Eventually the engine ran low on oil and it developed a rod knock. The car will still start now, but I need to fix it and was wondering what the cheapest way to fix the shortblock would be, along with any cheap modifications I could make to increase more power. I was probably going to split apart the shortblock and turn the crank/buy new bearings to keep it on the cheap side. How much power would I expect with a 16g turbo and the exhaust mods. the car is really nice, but unfortunately its an auto ![]() I'd like to fix it and make a fun little car to play around with in the dirt/snow

Uh, buy a new shortblock.
You also need a fuel pump, injectors, and a tune, immediately. God knows what else the dumbass who sold you the car managed to break. |

as far as the turbo upgrade I'm not too knowledgeable of the 16g turbos but from other peoples opinions and posts I would say it compares to the vf39 maybe a little stronger. |

NOO!! couple of my buddies have gone thru multiple five speed tranny rebuilds!! AT is the way to go 140k plus on mine, stage 2, shifts as like new and if you know how to lauch itll keep up with 5 speeds, and autos are a lot more convienent. Plus autos can take power better and have a center diff (MTs only have a viscous coupler). IMO the only tranny better is the sti 6 speed, but the hassle with a dccd controller and price thru the roof just is rediculous. Keep the AT, save your money, and get a good shortblock and tune ftw.

A ej25 will direct fit into the car. I put a ej25 block in my car with the 2.0 heads still on. The heads will fit on the 2.5 block plus the heads are easier to build and there is a certain functionality for doing it that way. They call it a hybrid motor. And definitely go M/T but 6 speed for sure. I've eaten 5 speeds up its usually the second or third on those to blow up the 6 is much better built and distributes the power better.

Sell the car and get something else. There are two types of people:
a. Those who buy cars with problems and can fix them without outside assistance. b. Those that shouldn't. You are clearly type b. |

Who are you anyway, let me guess you live with your parents and make close to minimum wage working at an old person home using an old sponge to mop up old guy ball stench so you can afford to have 400whp out of a subaru so all of your 19 year old friends can think you're cool? ![]() oh **** i just saw you had 27k posts and you are a "hateful moderator." Well I'm a guy that has more money in 3 cars sitting in my garage then you've made in the last 4 years. You know I bought this car just like I felt like it and I could run it into a tree for all I care?? Honestly, how much time of your life do you have to waste on a stupid forum to accumulate 27k posts??? Have you ever been with a girl? You a virgin dude? You ever give money to old men in deserted bathroom stalls to blow you to make you feel important and have more money to mod your subi? Dude get a life...you get made fun of in middle school for having bitch tits and your nipples showing through your shirt or something and now have a power trip on a forum to put other people down and make yourself feel better about yourself? You know you should be more nice to people. ![]() |

Oh man I see 2 incoming TO's. Unabomber knows more than either who insulted him. There is a reason a useful and factual FAQ for almost every question exists.

well he may know a bunch, but what an *******. I don't know much about modding subaru's since i've never owned any, but I have been heavily involved in everything automotive for the past 10+ years. I'm not going to sit idle while some punk makes fun of me when I have paid my dues in the automotive world. I don't deserve to be talked to like that.

I own a salvage yard and I ship hundreds of parts a week so thats not an issue...I can arrange freight. In the salvage yard world these shortblocks/engines score a huge premium.
