Unhappy Another Subie bites the dust

yep, got the final word about 15 min. ago.

my scooby is gone... totaled. i wrecked Saturday night... in the rain i spun braking for my driveway and hit a telephone pole. i was fine other than a headache and some soreness Monday. i took out my neighbors mailbox, another one gone, i feel bad about that. i also got 3 tickets... failure to maintain lane, i was on the other side of the street, striking a fixed object (telephone pole), and driving too fast for conditions... court is June 1 so i'll see if they get tossed...

i will end up owing about $750 on my loan, hopefully USAA will get the bank to accept the payoff as total...

i am gonna get a cheap beater for a while, pay off some bills that way... and then get a new car in a year or so...

a sad and frustrating week indeed...

Damn Brian, that really sucks! I guess Joe, Justin and I were some of the last people to see your car "whole".

At least you're OK though... now I understand some of your harsh words on that "other" topic. I would've had all ****'s in my reply if I'd just totalled my Subie.

Those bald RE-92's are pretty scary in the rain, but I'm sure you know that. I hope you can get another scooby soon, and until then I'll let you drive mine once in awhile.

Let me know how the court thing goes, and if you want to chat give me a call on my cell.

Take Care,
-Mike.

Damn Brian, I'm really sorry to hear about that. Glad you're ok! Hang in there, and maybe you can pick up an STi in a couple of years.

hey thanks guys... the reason i was so slow on I-75 was the car was sliding all over the place. on some of the bridges... the car felt like it was skipping on water, like when you skip a stone across a pond...

more than likely i'll get my credit and finances in shape and go for a WRX-STi wagon in a few years, we'll see. but most definitely want another Subaru. this was my second and i'll have to get a third now... i'll just keep upgrading...

mike... guess i won't be needing those pads afterall...

this kinda throws a wrench in my plans to dominate SoloII next year...

i did see a '87 XT for sale in Norcross for $3500... hmmm...

Go on to Autotrader.com

search for imprezas under 4 grand at any distance...there's usually a couple in northcarolina with high miles for less than that...

sorry to hear of your loss.

Sorry to hear that Bri. However the overtime I made fixing a broken pole this weekend will go towards a few mods on my Scoobie. Hate to see one go down in its prime though. Glad you are OK.

Yup, Thats my area. I got called in about 8:30 sat. night. Didn't get off till 3:30 Sun. morning.

P.S. You ever make a run on Mt Paran between 75 and Roswell rd? If it wasn't for the stop signs it would be more fun.

if we got the B4 i would be all over that like white on rice! i hope it is the turbo... take on my friends 2.8 A4...

Mt. Paran in good. you ought to to try Habersham from Peachtree Battle up to West Paces.

another is Powers Ferry from Chastain to Mt. Vernon.

the pole i hit was on Habersham just before Roswell Rd. at 3554 or 3556

Very sorry for the loss.

As for a replacement car...look for a cool turbo XT or an XT6. The XT6 is good for about 150hp with the 2.4 H6. Very fast and comes in 2WD or AWD. Fairly inexpensive too. Just try to stay away from the air suspension, that's damn pricey to fix.

i previously had a XT-GL. loved that car... 5 speed, FWD with push button 4WD, not AWD, no rear diff.. it did have the air suspension though.

yeah i am looking for a XT-6....

I worked on that pole!! Man I saw all the glass in the road and the dirt. You knocked open a feeder to the condos there. They were with out lights till I got there about 1:00 a.m.. Small world ain't it. Sorry about your Scooby though.

Brian, sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear you're OK.

If its any consolation, you and I belong to an elite club: I knocked over a telephone pole in 1983 and hit the only concrete trashcan in downtown Decatur. It was my first love: a 1976 El Camino. But it led to my first muscle car: a '70 GTO Judge.

In hindsight, we laughed about that accident. The pole fell across the road (also knocking out power to an apartment complex). As we got out of the car, we looked back to see an MG speeding down the road. Next thing we know, it was standing on its tailpipes. Sad part was I paid for the pole and the MG.

Stay safe all. Padre

Sorry to here about the car. USAA kick butt when it comes to totaling cars. I rolled my second Subaru (MY01 RS) on Jan. 2nd and it only took me 32 days to find a replacement. They are incredably easy to deal with and I didn't have a single problem with getting my money since it was already paid off.

Brian,

I just bought my '86 Brat for $1000 !

Go for an old school and save for the STI Impreza.

How about an RX? Its got a turbo, AWD and there's only a few on the road.
