Default 2011 Impreza 2.5i. Is there a reflash?

My girlfriends car just holds rpm's between shifts so bad that it's actually difficult to drive. You literally have to hold the clutch in and wait for 3-6 seconds between shifts. We took it to Subaru when she got It last year but no luck. Maybe someone here knows if there's anything now, or if i can take it to a tuner and have him adjust anything.

Thanks guys,
Robert

Droe an 11 Legacy that was just like that. I hated it. I don't sift with lightning speed but I don't want to hae to wait between shifts.

Try letting the clutch out slower and using the synchros more.

This sounds familiar. I think someone had said its an emissions thing? Don't hold me to it though, it just sounds like something I saw before on here.

There is no reflash, but you can get them open source tuned to re-map and improve the throttle response. This is a common complaint with the drive-by-wire sytems in the 08+ NA Imprezas.

^^ If you're gonna use open source tunning to re-map, learn and understand what you're doing as you could render your car crapola if you do something wrong.

The way I understand it, they hold the throttle open so the the engine doesn't go into a sudden and unplanned for lean condition. This allows them to achieve the fuel control needed to make sure that the converter works more effectively. But, yeah, it's pretty annoying. 3-6 seconds is waaaay longer than what my '10 does, though. It's more like 1-2 for me.

What did yours do before it failed? Mines been grinding going in to second first thing in the morning. Only when it's cold and ONLY on the first shift into second. It seems to be getting worse so I'm planning on calling Subaru.

Oh, I'd pay to have it done by a professional.

Hey

The 3-6s wait sounds absurd. I get nothing like that on my 08 2.5i... I notice a slight rise in RPM when I pop the clutch, but I thought it was to help ease between shifts. Even if the car is holding rpm while you shift, isn't it responsive to throttle when you're back in gear?
