Talking Got my Borla exhaust/ headers

My Borla Headers and Exhaust arrived via UPS today around 5. So I took everything out, inspect it all, everything is ok, I'm ready to go. I jack the car up and found that removing the muffler and midpipe was extremely easy. The headers were a little more difficult, to get to the bolts going from the header flange to the cat flange I had to remove the head-shield. All these bolts needed a lot of WD-40 and some yanking to get them all loose. Then the bolts on the flange themself were even harder, but I got those off too eventually after lots of cursing and pulling. Installing my new muffler and midpipe went pretty fast just like taking it off. Then I got the headers installed and they fit pretty snugly. The great thing was, when I was putting the bolts back into the flange and re-bolting the heatshield we had a nice flash rainstorm. It started to pour, by the time I was finished I was soaked head to toe! The whole thing took me about 2 hours to do. As for the drive, the car seems to pull a little better and have more top-end power according to the butt dyno. Some people said the exhaust/ headers are loud, I don't really think so. Its a very nice enjoyable sound, how subarus should sound out of the factory. The exhaust tip looks nice as well, not small like stock, and not overly huge, I try and post some pics tommarow because its dark out and raining, I've been driving too.

Default congrats!

They sound great hey?!!
You find the most gain in the high-end? Interesting...
I noiced mostly the increased mid range pull. Either way I'm sure you'll be quite happy with the performance.

Pillaka,

Do you mind me asking where you purchased? And for how much?

Cheers

It is possible that you may want to reset the ecu now that you have significantly changed your exhaust flow characteristics, but it will probably just learn anyway Well, I have pretty much the same set up as you now, with a stromung dual tip cat back and a random tech high flow cat, and I say that it is amazing how much more mid and high range pull I feel (over stock w/ just cat back). If im not being careful, I sometimes bounce off fuel cut off - the engine just keeps pulling to red line! Oh, and exhaust note? Absolutely seductive, with a hint of metallic resonance comming from the stainless. Very happy

I orded my things from SPO tuning. The Headers cost $475, and the cat-back exhaust $365. S&H was an additional $66.

I got a used Borla catback a few weeks ago and I felt a difference as well in the mid-to-high rpm range. Definately pulls harder and it sounds great to boot. Now all I have to do is get rid of that annoying heatshield rattle and I'll be set. Got some stainless hose clamps, but I still need to get some ramps.

I got the Borla headers with an Apex'i N-1 exhaust I know the install was rather easy the only problem I had was taking the manifold out because the bolts on the Cat were in a very hard to reach place so I had to take out the heat shield.
how do you like your set up? headers really do help huh?
