Thumbs up Edmonton Autocross Challenge Cup - Revised

Okay, the other thread was getting kind of long and I want to make sure that we keep everyone informed. I will ask Keiho to sticky this so it stays on top and people can find it more easily.

Therefore, the Teams as of August 5, 2002 are as follows:

Team GC8:
1.) Mark Brand (markus) - Edmonton
2.) Chris Wong (schlong8) - Edmonton/Ft.McMurray
3.) Ryan Warrington (banshe86) - Calgary
4.) Graeme Lindsay (bigdoobie) - Red Deer

Team GDA:
1.) Darrell Calander (Darrell) - Ft. Sask.
2.) Jason Shave (ScoobieSnax) - Edmonton
3.) Brian Hoyano (Red WRXer) - Edmonton
4.) Randy Clark (instant) - Ft. McMurray??

"Singles" ==> For those that may be registered for the event, but can't make-up a full team
1.) Guillermo Delgado (Memo) - GC8 - Edmonton
2.) Jody Dorchester (Wrxtasy) - Edmonton
3.)
4.)

Registration deadline has come and gone. Teams have been registered and posted as above. Memo & Wrxtasy were registered as "Singles" and the organizers have been notified that we would like them as "alternates" should we have any no-shows.

All!! Don't forget your $25 on race day as that is the fee. Also, IIRC, if you're registered for the Challenge Cup, you're also automatically registered for the WCMA Autocross at Namao on the 10th which is the day before. I will be attending this as it is an excellent opportunity for you to "dial-in" you car prior to the Challenge Cup. I would highly recommend attending both events.

Cheers,
MB

Default Info re cross

Howdie,

I registered - hopefully not too late. Is this going off on the 4th? the solo assn has an event planned for the 10th and the corvette club on the 11th.

This is at the airbase... isn't it?
What is the registration fee?
Can other drivers/cars participate or is this Sub thing?
If so, could I have a team with 4 friends and my car?

Do we even need teams?

See ya soon
Randy

Instant, this event is the one that is on the 11th. Rumor has it it might be the same course as the edmonton WCMA event the day before, only backwards. Could be interesting.

Darrell,

Memo just PM'd me and he's looking to be on a team. Once I have his info, I will forward to you as you may not be able to fufill a full compliment of GDA's.

Also, it's probably best if we have a couple of alternates. We should be able to find a team or two that's missing a car/driver on race day.

Cheers,
MB

Brian Lakusta will have a list of drivers who are "singles" and will be adding them to teams that end up short people. If you suspect that you might be requiring the services of a single or two as an alternate, drop him an email.

Thumbs up Hi Jody!!!

Jody,

You had originally PM'd me and advised that you may not be able to make it, thus the reason you're on the alternate list. If you're definately "In", I will place you on Team GDA list. Since you've already sent your registration/VIN info in, the organisers will automatically place you on the "Singles" list as direwlf as mentioned above.

Please advise if you are a "foresure" and I'll make the change.

Cheers,
MB

This isn't the most related reply, but here it goes.

I'm planning on running this AutoX for the first time. My Wagon is still bone stock including the Potenza's I was wondering if anyone new what tire pressures would work well for me. I'm sure some of you Subaru guys are still running this tire.

Any educated guesses would be great!

Thanks

Generally, you want to run as much pressure as you can cram into them without the tire exploding or seriously comprimising the contact patch. I haven't run on the potenzas, but the street tires I have used seemed to like pressures around 44psi or so. I found usually around 42 in the front and 43 to 44 in the rear worked best for my setup (big rear bar and otherwise stock suspension).

I ran the RE92s at the beginning of the year and they seem to like 45-50psi. The sidewalls are very soft and any type of hairpin/g-circle turn will cause them to roll over even at these higher pressures. Pressure in the rear is typically a few psi lower allowing the car better rotation.

I'll have an air tank at the competition if you find your pressures are too low.

Ryan.

I would agree with the low 40's psi on the RE92's, but 50?

I also agree with banshe86 on running lower in the rear. I've found a 2-3 psi difference between front and rear worked well with the stock tires.

I will also have my little accessory power air compressor at the Challenge cup to make adjustments as necessary.

Cheers,
MB

Good that u guys will be bringing air, i'm still figuring out my tires, but i know it DOESN'T like high pressures. I was at 43psi-ish, and they did not perform that well compared to when i ran w/ 40psi. Now it's a matter of 1psi up or down to figure out what's best.
