Default gauge pod set up for 2011 wrx

After a lot of searching, it seems the options are minimal at this point for +08 hatches. I see the dual gauge and single gauge off the steering wheel but i really dont want to put more gauges there, feels to much of a cluster. The A-pillar design is what i thought i wanted but i think i agree with the community of little to ricer and a eye sore. I really would like to find something for the clock/dash mount. I could deal with two or three, i saw the one on RallySport but no pictures of any cars with it on. There was another one "glow" something but i remember reading comments of people that said they were junk. If anyone has ideas for what im looking for I would appreciate it. Obviously pictures are a bonus!!

I think the A-pillar and the clock pods are pretty "ricer" looking, IMO. Anything that is noticeable to someone driving past your car as being obviously aftermarket is not something I would want. Some of the more sleek clock pods look OK, but I still don't think it compares with the OEM look of the SMY cluster.

Yes this is what i was talking about when i said i didn't want them by the steering wheel. It seems to me like there is too much going on, and i do appreciate a "sleek" look i still don't mind people seeing gauges. This still is a performance car, who said you have to be in the 200 mph club or run 10's to see some gauges? I do appreciate the links and pics, if i do not find what im looking for i will revert to this set up, but i really like the the older model STI's with the clock mount pointed more toward driver. I think it looks pretty mean and would seem more usable to me.

In the 08+, the smyclustermaker is the best option. What you're looking for doesn't really exist. There is a cluster that puts three pods on the passenger side facing the driver, but it isn't very effective and it's ugly as hell. Good luck with whatever you choose.

anyone have both the perrin gauge pods and the smy gauge pod at the same time?

Trying to figure out how to figure out something so I don't have to put two gauges on the a pillar.

What about here? I was just going to mold a pod down here for a couple of gauges.

You wouldn't need to buy the Perrin pod. just do what a customer of mine did. When he bought the Prosport gauges he mounted them with the included pods they come with next to the SMY pods and it looks like this.

Hey guys. I got some exciting news. I was up at rallysportdirect yesterday and there 11 sti was up there. Looks so good in person. Any way I was looking at it and noticed that they had a center clock 3 gauge pod. So I asked if they custom made it they said nope it is a prototype from ATI and it will be out on the market in about 3 weeks. It looked so good not as big as the older style. More sleek and gauges are all angles towards the driver. Can't wait to pick it up!!!

Dd you see if that gauge pod had the clock area still visible and where you can see your mpg as well?

I saw a dual setup that mounts right above the rearview mirror that looked pretty sweet! I can't remember where, but I think it was at fastwrx.com

Unfourtunitly no, The pod actually sits right in front of the clock display unlike the previous model that actually replaced that whole section. It was kinda hard to tell how it sat in there because they had the whole entire dash including the pod all wrapped in suede with red stitching to match the rest of the interior. looks legit, but If you have the touch screen all that info can be found there so for me it wont be a big deal to loose that.

That's a really CLEAN look!
Everything looks like it came like this from the factory (especially because of the same lightning)!
OEM looking style!

I guess considered a little ricey but it works well for me. The clock/mpg/temp is relocated in the console pocket in front of the shifter.

Here's the writeup...

*Noob question alert!*

I like the look of the gauge pods, and think it'll be interesting to monitor boost pressure in real time. but is there any real benefit to a boost gauge if only going to stage 2? Also whats another gauge option to install, that would be somewhat helpful and not simply vanity

I feel that is a total valid question!
I found that having gauges are for the most part vanity unless you use them for warnings for sign that something isn't right.

Though stage 2 should be safe enough to ever have to worry about warnings, it's always nice to know if you are experiencing boost creep or drops in pressure. I also like to monitor oil pressure. The main reason for that is for slow pressure loss which are signs of something going wrong. Yes the car has a stock oil pressure sensor that will come on once you have lost almost all your pressure but at that point you're already in too much trouble.

Hope that helps a bit...

pretty much exactly what i was looking for, im assuming with the oil pressure you'll be able to see slight variations if the turbo starts running low or something similar to that situation as well.

Defi Red Racer. Exact OEM match, including dimming when headlights are on. Only difference is the orange needle.

EDIT: Now with a gauge in the other pod too.
