Default Qs about Legacy GTs, MYs, and Head Gaskets...

Well,I got a new job and impreza is starting to get old, and I have been a fan of the Legacy GT (97-99) so, I am begining my search to find a red GT Limited (I hope).

I've done lots of searches and been lurking in your fine forum for a while now, and I have a few questions that I am still curious about.

Is there a MY that has had the least problemz with the blown head gaskets?

Anything I should look for specifically when I find one that I am interested in? Alternator, clutch etc?

Anyone want to sell me theirs with a 5 speed?

How much would you offer me? Seriously, I have a white MT 97GT with 128.000 miles on it but replaced the engine last year with a 2.5L SOHC engine from a wrecked 01GT with 5000 miles on it (I didn't want to deal with anymore headgasket issues). The engine now has 12,000 on it.

I have to say, the car was hit by a drunk driver a month ago. Replaced the front driversside section but the car looks good as new (actually bettter than before the accident!!).

Why am I selling it? I'm starting to consider something new . . . other than a subie . . . don't know what just yet.

Here's what it's got, for those that are interested:
Cobb Tuning Intake
Custom 2.25 catback exhaust
Kartboy Short Shifter and bushings
Clutchmasters Stage 1 clutch
Meullen 12lb flywheel (sitting in my closet right now. My mechanic forgot to put it on the new engine)
Cusco front strut tower bar
Eibach lowering springs
18mm rear sway bar
Bridgestone RE730s with 75% tread left
Custom painted white interior
Alpine 4V preout tape player/CD changer combo
6.5 inch Boston Acoustics rally components
MTX 75x2watt amp
Audiocontrol Line driver/crossover
Basslink

I know it's probably waaaay too far for you to head out here to check out my car, but I'm just offering this up . . . ya never know.

And to all of the vultures floating around here. I'M NOT PARTING IT OUT!! Sorry guys.

Jason

-ps: The bodystyle that you want, 97-99, all have the DOHC engine. I've known people who've had the 97, 98, and 99 engines that had headgasket problems . . . Yes, there are some cars from every year that come out unscathed, so it's really just playing roulette

sounds like a great car Jason, but I think that I am going to try to find something a little more local.

Thanks!
