Default Question on Adding STi Suspension to the Wagon

I saw the good reviews here of the STi suspension and I am considering getting it for my WRX Wagon. I'll probably order it through the dealer if the price is ok (they gave me a 10% off parts coupon when I bought the car). My question is what else should I order to make this complete. I saw that STi strut tops made the ride/handling that much better. Would I also order a sway bar or control arm or does all that come with the kit from the dealer? I just wanted to get an idea what all the parts cost and what doesn't come in the kit but improves the handling. I am looking for this for autox, spirited highway driving and windy PA backroads. I don't have any other mods on the car, though my Azenis should be in next week.

I bought my wagon with the STi suspension installed. The rear sway bar comes with the kit, as well as struts, springs and bushings. I also ordered front and back strut tops which were extra. I like the setup a lot.

For now, I think that is all you will need. But there is a ton of other stuff that you can incrementally add later, such as end links, front sway bar, strut bars, trailing arms, anti-lift kit, adjustable rear sway bar. However, I don't know how these mods affect your class eligibility in autox.

The STi suspension of the wagon from the dealer includes *only* the following:

1) 4 springs/struts combo.
2) Rear roll-bar with associated bushings.
The sedan gets the aluminium control arms and also a front roll-bar (but not the rear roll-bar like the wagon).

All of the above are separate and need to be ordered by the dealer separately. They just order it separately and group it together and call it a kit.

People here have additionally added the following (not available from the dealer):
1) Replaced the stock WRX strut tops with firmer STi ones.
2) Replaced WRX lateral links and trailing links with the STi ones.
3) Replaced stock WRX control arm bushings in the front with firmer STi bushings.

Hope this helps.

I think one of the associated kits lumped together in the vernacular as the "SPT dealer kit" includes a ton of Group N bushings including the ones you mention as point #3, as well as bushings that fit in the trailing and lateral links and rear crossmember.

I am not sure if the "SPT dealer kit" includes the front control arm bushings. Maybe someone else can clarify this ??

I will be replacing mine with the STi stuff soon (this weekend) and would like to gather as much info about it as possible.

www.subaruwrxparts.com has the kit for $1294 + $40 for shipping on there site:

Description from site:
**STi Performance Suspension Kit (Wagon)**
Kit comes complete with 4 struts, 4 springs, sway bar, bushings, etc.(Does not come with aluminum control arms.)

That's probably the best price you'll find.
