Default PS3 SLIM Owners

Evening, Due to an HDD crash from the Killzone 3 Beta, and Sony's anti pirate 3.56 firmware I cant get my new HDD to work with my PS3 from what I've been reading online is that I need a Stock HDD (120GB) so to get the new drive working (320GB, Long story) so if anyone has a stock ps3 drive laying around that has not been formatted, please let me know. Or if you can let me back up your data and attempt using your current stock drive that would be great as well... other wise its a $99 plus shipping repair fee to sony and a month without my ps3. (even though its their fault )

I have done a few drive swaps. Have you tried booting up to a thumb drive? From what I gather you are simply trying to get a different HDD to work in your Ps3 right?

I had this issue on Christmas while trying to install my 500GB into my new Slim. You will most likely lose your data off of your old drive, but you should be able to get the 320 installed and running.

^ Yea I was replacing a 320GB drive that had burned out. The problem is with the 3.56 Firmware from sony. In their attempt to squash the hackers they reintroduced an old bug. They have release a v2 of the 3.56 firmware to correct the problem, but you need an unformatted stock ps3 drive to perform the fix. Either that or wait for firmware 3.60 or pay sony $100+ for them to repair it. I found a stock 120GB slim drive. I'll keep you guys posted.

Was playing Killzone 3 beta and it crashed while writing data to the disk, and then the PS3 shut off... The drive itself was fried, replaced it with the exact model that had died and it wouldnt recognize the drive, tried the stock drive and the same thing happened. from what I know, its a known issue with the 3.56 firmware that you cannot use an aftermarket drive and it can brick the console.
