Question Is it possible to get DEEP into the 12's for less than $4k?

Just curious, who here thinks that it possible to get DEEP into the 12's (like 12.3) for less than a $4k investment? This is for the average guy, not a tuner or someone with access to discounted parts.

i would suggest buying the turbo xs stage 4 for $3900. thats your best bet for the 12's. then go get your car tuned to its full potential with race gas and your good to go.

vishnu stage 0 and then 1(when its out) and then go with the hybrid turbo. its the cheapest turbo, and all other vf turbos you are gonna need more engine management sysmtes

You could run 12s for about $2500 if you really wanted to. I ran 8.28 in the 1/8 mile with stock fuel, stock computer, turbo back exhaust, up pipe, boost controller and VF30.
You need to keep the boost down around 16.5 psi to be safe but the car ran very strong with this setup. I could have run easy 12s in good weather.

$1000 exhaust, $350 up pipe, $1000 vf30 turbo, $100 boost controller = easy high 12s with a good driver
= less that $2500

If you want to crank the boost - you will need to spend the extra money and get injectors, fuel pump, chip. Then deep 12s is garenteed but at a cost of $3900 or so.

Remember guys, he said "DEEP" into the 12s. Most of the solutions give are maybe into the 12s or high 12s at that. The only solution give that may be 12.3 (as requested) would be the TurboXS Stage 4 setup. Even this is very hard to do and would require "expert" driving. Take a look at what Phil and Nathen were running on the setup and you'll see what I mean.

To get 12.3 very consistently or lower you could use the Stage 4 setup and a small 20 shot (or so) of N20. This will do it almost everytime

The solution above would put it at about $4400 which is a little over budget but if he can pickup as used Unichip or VF30 turbo then he could do for right around $4000.

This would give you an great running street car with the ability to turn things up even more at the track. Really is the best of both worlds.

No2 alone will get you 12's.

I say a nice wet shot (~75shot) and full exhaust. That's only $1500 and DEEP 12's. Bang for the buck is always nitrous. Then you could always slap on a bigger turbo and either increase the fuel jet or get bigger injectors.

great info....i guess with the txs stage 2, i'm half way there....the nos route sounds interesting but i must admit my ignorance on the subject....all i seem to hear is "ah, you'll blow your engine up!"......any opinions on this? surely a small shot would be less likely to cause problems.....and i will probably keep on the lookout for an upgraded turbo.....any thoughts on a used one?.....it would have to be a hell of a deal for me to buy used....i've got this image of me walking into a junkyard and pulling something off of a wrecked dsm..... surely there's a few out there....

mark5211: i have the tbxs stage 2.you are correct about driver skill making a huge difference.i could only get into the mid 13's and i have been to the track several times.i think nitrous would help with launching the car, good 60 foot times are the key to a good quarter mile.a 50 shot wet nitrous kit would allow you to launch at 3000 rpm without bogging then its just grabbing gears.check pout bybyv8's posts he has a complete nitrous install post.......peace

i'm assuming these prices don't include installation?

if not, then how much would it add (the xs stage 4 for example)
