Yeah, too late. I had one that was slightly recessed.after hearing this compared to what I had...this is worth the extra money...and it comes with a free midpipe.

Don't get me wrong, the np sounded great, this sounds better.imho

This thread couldn't be more confusing. As far as I can tell, the Nameless axle back has a muffler. The muffler delete, which most people seem to still call an axle back doesn't, correct?

I think it differs between the sedan and the wagon

Okay. I was talking hatch. So there is a hatch axle back with a formal muffler, and then the muffler delete "axle back"/straight pipe right?

Only muffled options off the shelf for the hatch

Okay, so I'm assuming the hatch (muffled) option is quieter than the muffler delete option for the sedan? It's hard to judge based on the YouTube videos. I'm looking for something the cops won't notice and that won't stone me to death on the highway, but will give me a little more rumble than stock.

I've been hearing the hatch muffled is way too quiet. I think the muffled sedan axel back is either ready it almost ready. I don't know, I think the muffler version is going to be too quiet and the delete version is going to be too loud like my np axel back was.

I haven't heard an SPT in person, although apparently the SPT for 2011s is pretty good.

Here's my Nameless catback with muffler, NO resonator. I think it's perfect. Its not too quiet, in fact some of my friends who are less into cars find it a bit loud.

Now, the hatch axle back alone would be quieter because it retains the stock mid pipe, resonator, etc? Your car does sound a bit too loud for me, but again, videos are hard to judge.

Of course the axleback will be quieter. The nice thing is, Nameless cut their exhaust pieces to match up with the stock pieces. So you can buy the axleback first, see how it is and buy the midpipe later if you want it. The video shows how loud it is directly behind the car, honestly I never hear it sound that good unless I'm in a tunnel, garage or something like that.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm finding it difficult to find videos of just an axle back on an otherwise bone stock 2011+ wrx hatch.

Whatever you choose just make your choice based on what you want. If what you want is too expensive then save up for it. I ended up losing some money selling my np delete, when I really wanted the q300 from the beginning. Now I'm happy, this exhaust will be on there forever.

Where in MA are you? I live in Somerville, you could check mine out if you're close.

Default Picked mine up friday

So I've been doing some research on various ehaust options and like many others on here I came across Nameless Performance. Some of my criteria were as follows:
  • Not insanely loud
  • Look as close to stock as possible
  • Allow me to downgrade should I need any maintenance work
  • Not too expensive
  • Future upgrade options
  • Good non-raspy sound
  • Local company if possible

I ended up going with the 2011+ STi/WRX Sedan Quad Tip AxleBack Muffler Replacement. I met John Hoyenga on Friday night after work ~8PM. He was very acommodating with my schedule. I ended up installing the exhaust later that night and I must say that I was pretty pleased with the outcome (although still slightly still a bit too loud for my taste - I'm 32, but I've had aftermarket exhausts before. Maybe I'm just getting too old ) My brother in-law on the other hand is a few years younger and insisted that the sound should be a bit louder (He drives a mustang cobra with a Bassani exhaust - Insanely loud!)

Here's a video my Brother in-law and I shot during the install:

and some random driving videos as well:

Overall I'm very pleased, the guys at Nameless do quality work. The sound of the boxer engine definitely comes to life after this andI'm happy to keep business local! As far as performance is concerned, I was really only looking for an option to release the sound of the boxer with the intention of a full exhaust post warranty, but I'm proud to report a butt dyne reading increase of ~5-10 HP
